Cam install
So I'm to the point I'll probably be doing my cam. I was thinking about getting the kit from Texas speed. My question is who all have done their own install? Trying to decide if it's something I want to try on my own or not.

not yet, but given enough motivation, I'm willing to help out here. My son(s) can spin wrenches too. I have some free time early June when summer hits. Maybe we can do yours and then mine. 22 hours each. I can actually see Texas Speed during my drive to work...

Go for it, just nuts and bolts. I priced out a cam kit and headers, parts and labor over......$10,000.00. Need I continue??

What? $10k?????
The Cam install discussed lately involves keeping the DOD/AFM including all the perfectly fine valve train. Spend about 800-1000 on parts.... ...labour is the tough one. I have the first 2 weeks off in July......

custom cam under .552 lift from comp cams is $470, gasket sealer, cam bolt. 80% of the power gain... just saying.

I've missed those discussions, what does that grocery list look like? Cam and trunion upgrade only?

on a off the shelf comp or lingenfelter AFM cam you won't need trunions, these would need soft springs of say 110 lbs seat and .571 lift / .529 so stock is more than enough.

with large lift and high spring pressure, the timing chain, trunion and other parts are suspect, springs themselves are suspect with miles.

OP if you do it yourself make sure you research the install carefully. More than one shop says it's a PIA to get it right.
