It may be your afm kicking in. It's really terrible it will come on when paddle shifting as well.

It's AFM more than likely. It's annoying. The autos actually start off in second gear...

Very well could be the afm. What I don't understand is I had an 06 monte carlo ss LS4 with the afm and it really wasn't that noticeable. But the afm in the L99 to me was unbearable. To the OP the only thing I can tell you is take to the dealer and see what they say. If they say it's normal due to cylinders shutting off buy the range afm disabler.

Guys be nice..
AFM = Active Fuel Management = DOD = Drive on Demand. It is when your auto kicks down to four cylinders.

the L99 (Auto's) have it. The LS3 (Manuals) don't. You will learn there are far more differences in these two cars than just the transmission.

Do your research on AFM. It makes changing the exhaust for us L99's more difficult because of the terrible sound of a 4 cylinder through an 8 cylinder exhaust. It is one of the reasons the L99's are as quiet as a prius.

three options:
Deal with the sound
Tune it out - Warranty void
plug in a range device that turns it off - keeps warranty... I think a member has one for sale for a great price right now.

do some research on AFM, the consensus is most people don't think keeping it is worth the headache.

The OP is talking about the shift from 1st to 2nd not being smooth. There's no AFM activated
at that point, only V/8 power. Everyone should stop bad mouthing the AFM on the L99. It
never bothered me with stock exhaust, or now with my Solo J/Pipes.

Never bother me either with no mufflers and the few weeks I had headers before the tune.

Schedule for the dealer OP.
