Multi Color LED mylink addition to a 2017 2LT RS

Question

Can I take the Multi color LED light from a 2017 2SS mylink and plug and play into a 2017 2LT RS? Have a part that I can order for $100 but if it doesn't work I'm arsed out

Its just a light tube right?

It will only change with the drive mode. Vehicles that do not have the correct HMI module to support it won't be able to change the color via the mylink screen.

Assuming you don't have the convenience and lighting package then no. The white LEDs probably use the LED AMBIENT LIGHTING CTRL 1 signal from X5-22 of the BCM that control other interior LEDs, The RGB leds not only have an extra 2 PWM signals from the BCM which are controlled from the HMI but also a seperate ambient lighting control module that then converts those signals to LIN

So what if I order a new Accent Lamp Control Module? Its annoying having 24 color changing lights in the footwell and side doors but a white light around mylink touchscreen

Is there an after market mod kit I can order to get this going?

It sounds as though you have the LPO spectrum lighting kit. If you have that then you should have everything you need to make it work. You may just have to add wires fron the ambient lighting control module which is to the right of the glove box. Switched 12V is on pin2 and the LIN for the radio rgb is normally pin 6. You'll also need a ground.

A friend of mine is looking at this idea for his incoming 2017 2LT RS. Light mods will be next after mounting the brake pads and tires from 4Wheelonline this week.
