Cars with networked computers + bad guys = potential problems

A sobering read for us all.

I love the first promoted comment though:

"This is why Commander Adama wouldn't allow the computers to be networked on the [Battlestar] Galactica"

It's refreshing to read about the realities of this technology. Unfortunately, automakers and industry oversight committees will probably spend billions on security features, further complicating these computers, rather than face the reality that manual driving is less expensive and less dangerous than the implications of a hacker-terrorist with access to powerful computers and time on their hands.
