I think it sat around in a yard for a while as the rear cradle was pretty dusty.

Got the one shock today, came in like the OP said, thank you for selling it to me.
On a side note, think i now know how to lower the rear shock's on our Z/28 cars by 1" going to get a hold if a set of lower spring perch and have them fixed to lower the rears. |

I am too interested to see what you come up with, been thinking of this as well. Also would like to come up with something for the fronts without going to coil overs and retaining the OEM Z springs/shocks... |

Funny you say that, OP can you add to this post, for the rear what I found was there is a snap ring holding the spring perch, if you remove it you can move the perch down, there by lowering the car, now you may need to make a spacer for the top so spring is at the same pre load, more work to do but I will keep you guys updated, for the fronts GM did help a race team in moving a set to lower the front.

Sure,
I originally purchased a set of DSSVs from a member who races SCCA with a 1LE. His shock sponsor got him the Z28 shocks and when they were setting the car up, GM advised him that the way to lower the rear of these cars was to machine out the inside of that spring perch making the car sit lower without reducing shock travel. My rear shocks have a half inch of material removed, but I don't know what the limit is before you need a different perch with more material to start with. A full inch might be possible and might not. On the fronts, they took the mounting bracket that bolts to the knuckle and moved it up one inch to achieve a on inch drop in the front. See attached pic comparing my shock with a stock Z28 shock. I just got a set of ZL1 wheels so I'm hoping I can run the 20x10 up front with a 305/35R20 and factory Z28 springs without a problem. I'll let you know.
