2020 Z/28 owners meet-Locations

Ok everyone, this poll will help determine where the meeting will be held. For background info click these two threads.

Original idea thread- https://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=531477

Everyones location thread- https://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=546494

**read the options***then vote***

Option 1) Continue as planned as a smokey mountain cruise/gathering. Smokey mountain area run, cruise, hang out, some of us might enjoy a track day piggy backing on an scca track night at road atlanta or something. Beautiful area, awesome roads. Downsides is extreme popularity during the season, could be slow going. Also, weather is more likely a factor in this region during spring/summer. Look into perhaps a discounted rate for a truck shipper tonget some west coast people out east.

Option 2) West coast location. Maybe we go to Vegas to Camarocon (2020) and attend that and do a track day with them. OR go all out and just hit up another track in California/california mountain cruise (angels crest of the like). Plenty of sight seeing to be done in California as well, for some down time. Look into a discounted rate for a truck shipper to get our east coast guys out west.

Option 3) right down the middle. Kansas has heartland road course. Its not exactly an equal drive for everyone, but its close. It would be damn near ‘strictly’ track oriented, i dont know of many ‘good cruising road’ in Kansas or surrounding areas. Fwiw, pikes peak would be 9 hours away.

I did option 1, last year... 1st week of Sept. I'd recommend that time of year and early in the week to avoid weekend crowds.

My review and pics are here, post 46.

Reach out for lodging and logistics suggestions. Vrbo and air b&b have great options, just need to be aware of locality to roads and entertainment. We got a house with a garage

Being an East Coaster, a bucket list track is Laguna Seca. I would not expend the cash to ship my car to Vegas, but "might" consider CA if the discount was deep enough and there was three days on Leguna on the other side. I dream about Turn 8 & 8A...

I pretty much use the Z/28 for track and not shows or "fests". (no one knows what the Hell it is anyway unless I'm at a track event)

Maybe rotate around the country to different tracks each year or two?

Im game for Laguna, we'd have to piggy back someone elses track day, because I bet renting it would be $$$$. As mentioned, not everyone involved will WANT to track, so is there any local mountain/good driving roads nearby to Monterey?

I vote for west coast as well - Laguna would be great - but we need to get a run group within a NASA or SCCA track day with a higher sound limit 96db or higher, so we don't have sound issues. Many track days there are 92db, which won't work for our cars.

Vegas is a good option - lots to do there and going over to Camarocom would be fun. Maybe we could get some track time at Spring Mountain which is a very nice private road course!

Thanks for the poll and the idea - should be fun.

One of the best places in the world for driving roads - so many great drives south and east of Montery - no one would be unhappy!

Good to know! On a scale from 1-10, how much of a total cluster Fxxk would it be to plan it around monterey car week!

Either way, im game for any of the 3. Slight edge to Cali just because ive never done it before. But I definitely want the best option for the most to attend!!

I am planning on bringing my car out to Cali this fall from Colorado to do some track events at Willow Springs (Big Willow) and Buttonwillow. If some folks here want to get together for a track event or two or some other meet I will try to be there.

Monterey Car week - lots to see, high hotel rates, no track time and lots of traffic

It would be a great trip, but it is a different type of trip - more of an off the charts car show event. Auctions are fun to go to with some high $ cars rolling through. I have a friend who is auctioning off a 2017 Ford GT40 - Heritage Edition - Matte Black one of only seven they build like that. Going up to watch it go through!

MAYBE ITS BECAUSE THE WEATHER ? Historically it has been dryer out that way but El Nino has been messing that up this year
