Second set of tires or second set of wheels AND tires?
First time camaro, well any muscle car, owner here.
Living in Austin we do get chilly a couple of months a year. The ZL1 is my cruising car for the most part. Plan to track it soon though. Figured the F1 Supercar tires are better suited for the track and i could get some all season tires for now. Do y'all just switch tires on the stock rims with season or y'all got a second set of wheels altogether? Would love y'alls inputs and to see your set ups. Thanks in advance!

For me personally, neither - but if I get to that point, it would be second set of wheels. Swapping tires on and off the rims increases the chance of damaging the rims, and it's not free unless you have access to the machines needed to do it. Probably also not great for the tire itself to be put on and taken off multiple times.

I’m guessing those Supercar 3’s will be just fine down there. If you were further north and regularly driving in more typical winter temps I could see changing to all season tires. I think you’ll be just fine down there.

We do get seasons here, too, though...already been several mornings this year where the temps are around 40 at sunrise and it's barely December.

Also, my understanding is the PS4S is a better, more comfortable ride on the freeway. Thoughts on that?

I used to live in the area.
Drive something else on cold days or get another set of rims/ tires. Lots of hills and dust or marbles like on 1431. OP has legit concern. Park rd 4 is not a place for summer tires on cold days |

Go with a second set of wheels and tires. I've analyzed this situation as well and trust me, you'll be glad you did even if you work at a tire shop. A lot less pain...

I have a 2017 2SS. I live in north Kentucky where we get a number of very cold days in the winter and a handful of snowy days.
I purchased a used set of 1LE wheels with Pilot Sport 4S tires for the spring and summer months. I am having a set of Continental DWS06+'s put on today on the stock wheels for the winter. So yes, a second set of wheels and tires is the way to go. I have a 2011 Corvette Grand Sport that I normally park in the winter. I have a second set of wheels for it that I will be putting All-Season tires on also. |

I presume that you've got the money and equipment and space to swap a wheel/tire combo at home so that's what I would do. I've done it both ways and the little bit of anxiety I get twice a year with a tire tech marring my wheels, or scratching my car is worth a set of wheels and tires that I can swap myself. I really haven't had those bad things happen but knowing it's out there is a little stressful.
A simple dismount/mount at my local tire shop hit's ~$100. |

ok as a dual-wheels ZLE owner I wanted to weigh in.
I use the SS 1LE 20" wheels with Continental DWS Plus tires in the bad seasons (I actually prefer these wheels), and swap back to my 19" 1LE wheels in the summer and run Summer only tires. I was VERY surprised that I can WOT 2nd on my all seasons without any spin. |

I have a complete second set of wheels with tires for the track. I use oem wheels with MPS4s for street driving vs SC3s for the track.

Every time you install and remove tires from the rims you run the risk of damage to the rims. If you have the means, invest in a second set of rims and tires for the cold weather.
If you get a second set of tires you're still going to have to store them somewhere when not in use. Might as well store with rims. It's going to be the same amount of space.
