JUST ORDERED TSP 2" HEADERS. WILL A TUNE BE NEEDED?

Hey guys, I just ordered the headers and can't wait to get them installed. I will be going catless straight to the stock suitcase. My car is completely stock, otherwise. If the tune is needed, I am wondering if I should install a wideband to dial in the afr? - it is running pig rich but strong. I thank you all in advance for your thoughts.

Yes, going catless will give you CELs so have your tuner shut the associated codes off before you install the headers. I’d weld in a bung for a wideband before ceramic coating and installing them too.

Can I weld the bung on the collector or does it need to be a little farther back? So, you think I need to mess with the afr right now?

Tune required for any headers.

Tune is required for sure. Might want to add something to go with that to make the price of tuning worth it.

You can have another bung welded to the collector for the wideband.

Tuning a car, especially a torque-based ECM, is a lot more than just AFR. Adjusting virtual torque, torque limits, and of course your MAF table too.

Agreed. Great time to add a 95mm TB, maybe add E too. If you’re paying for tuning and/or dyno time, might as well make it worthwhile.

Just to be clear, I can place the wideband sensor on the collector of the header? TSP told me it needs to be about 6" farther down stream.

Jannetty Racing will do the remote tune.

Long story short: bought a package from a vendor and everything got f'ed up. I have a 103mm NW tb I would like to use, but don't know if it would work on a stock blower (blower was supposed to get ported). I also have a 14% ATI pulley. Could I use it also on a non-ported blower?

See attached pic of what I did with my 2” stainless Dynatech headers. Tough to tell from the pic, but the second O2 bung for the wideband is offset just a bit. Did that, then sent the headers off for ceramic coating. Worked out mint.

If you want to run the 103mm TB either send it out to Kong for porting (or buy a Whipple/Maggie lol). The stock unported blower will heatsoak even worse with the 14% pulley IMO.

You not only need a tune, you must have a tune. Driving a supercharged car with headers and no tune can cause engine damage.
