Oh wow. Didn’t expect that. The BTR intake is a bargain then.

I’ve seen a Victor jr with the Edelbrock elbow under a stock hood. The Holley is angled down slightly and is a bit smaller.

Or get a vfn with the money you save

I’d still be willing to make it more efficient with a better intake tho.

No price listed, but i think they just raised pricing anyway. If you have to ask, you probably cant afford it…

Cu.in will make a difference for sure,if you don't want to cut the hood, the BTR would be a good choice for the $$$$$. I actually have 2 new ones here in the box for LS3 style heads. With that much Cu.in. I don't think you'll have anny issues with loss of low end torque. lol... I have my boost controller set to give less boost in first and second gear so that it's more controllable on the street. It would blow the tires off in second gear all the time.

Here is a weird one. I have a fast 102 intake. And with 750 rwhp with a ported tb and switched to a nw 102 tb and gained a little rwhp. Then we did a dart 427 and changed pulley for more boost and car wouldn’t idle so we downsized cam and car kept running bad 913 rwhp. Then car kept going into a limp mode so we put on the ported tb. 930 rwhp no other change. The car went back into limp mode and not very drivable. To the point of not liking the car. So then we put a factory tb on and still have the fast 102 intake the car did 1015 rwhp and 911 torque no changes and better idle and not going into limp mode. Turned the rpms up a little and tuned it a little more and got 1019 rwhp and 915 torque. Sounds weird I know. I am confused on how this can happen.

My cam is a 236/250 625/625 115 -4. I'm not setup to rev past 7500, and have my limiter set at 7300. Do you still think a short runner intake like the BTR, is a good idea?

There is also the option of the Hi Ram, and the Edelbrock Pro Fl xt. It keeps the runner long, but flows better than stock. The Pro Flo fits under the stock hood I hear, so that's a plus.

Sounds like you need more intake for sure.

The shorter the runner length, the higher the max hp will be in the rpm range...
You should probably couple that with a camshaft that will work well higher up...
Even if you do lose some power down low (you will) youre still going to have a ton of power down low ( blown 427ls)..

I agree the cam has to match, and my cam is kind of mild for a 427. I think I've decided (currently) to go with the Edelbrock Pro Flo XT.

It has long runners, so I dont think it will lose anything. It fits under the stock hood, with some cowl trimming. And its cheap. Unless the LOD goes on sale, I'll probably get the Pro Flo. 1/3 of the price.

If you need additional hood clearance, Detroit Speed has adjustable engine mounts that will lower the engine up to 1/2".

Thanks, but I actually had to make 1/4inch spacers to raise my engine with BMR mounts and 2inch TSP headers hitting the frame.

It turns out, the LOD is on sale. %15 off until Nov 28th. hmmm

You've got the right idea in changing up the intake to unlock some more power. You've also got a fairly small camshaft for a 427ci motor - which is also gonna roll over up top early. That cam and the factory intake are going to make TONs of mid-range and then quit early. Add 8-10* of duration and a short runner intake and I don't think you'd be missing anything you could use down low, but it would make a good bunch more up top.

Boosted cars don't have their torque hurt nearly as much from a shorter runner length as you'd see with an all motor car, so there is less incentive/need to keep the factory style long runner intake. It's not even that they hurt torque so much, just that the short runners shift it up higher. When you only make 450ft/lbs and then shift the peak up 1000+rpm that can be an undesirable change for a street driven "fun" car that doesn't want to run a 6k stall and wild gears. When you make 700ft/lbs of torque, you can definitely shift the peak torque RPM up a bunch and still have more than you know what to do with down low.

The cam I have in mine is even smaller.

And it fits under the stock hood with NO cowl trimming!! Have had mine installed for about 2 years now.
