2021 Chevy Trailblazer

Why they couldn't base the Trailblazer off the Colorado I'll never know.. just another crossover in the world now. This could have been a really nice rear drive SUV.. Oh well.

Because crossovers make much more sense than body on frame SUVs

I was hoping they'd reserve the Trailblazer name for a Bronco/Wrangler fighter based on the Colorado BOF. Oh well. This thing will sell like hotcakes in the current climate.

Yep, I just don't see much difference between the 2020 Blazer and 2021 Trailblazer. Guessing that the Blazer is on the Acadia and the Trailblazer is based on the Terrain.

Blazer is similar to Acadia in size. This is in between the Trax and the Equinox for some reason.

If GM prices this correctly (and carefully), here's your Cruze replacement folks.

Sure, but we’re not saying they should stop making any CUV. Make all the CUVs they want, but a BOF small SUV makes a lot of sense as well. It’s like GM is completely unaware of the Bronco, 4Runner and every Jeep product.

GM was just caught benchmarking the new Wrangler today, so...

This is the replacement for the Chevy Trax, it's looking good. What remains to be seen is new interior design and drivability.

Edit: Apparently not, it slots right above the Trax. Would be a much better buy imo. There is also an interior shot, not too shabby.

Are they actively trying to confuse the consumer? First all the silliness of the Cadillac names and now we have the Blazer AND Trailblazer being sold at the same time? It will be evident which is which if they are side by side, but I can already feel the confusion when customers bring their "Blazer" into me for service.

Yeah, I saw that. The whole situation makes no sense at all. Chevy is selling a Blazer and a Trailblazer but neither have anything to do with their namesake, other than cashing in on them. Now, if and that’s a big if, it raises the questions like, who makes these decisions? Why are they allowed to make these decisions? Why doesn’t anyone ask them to reconsider?

If the Trailblazer was the Wrangler competitor, it could make sense naming scheme wise. But now that the Trailblazer is smaller than the Blazer, it is confusing.

If GM had infinite development money, they could do all of everything they want. But they don't, so they have to pick and choose based on what they think will yield the greatest return on that investment. These days, thats most likely going to be a crossover instead of a sedan or an SUV.

Bronco isn't on sale yet. And yes, lots of people are fawning over the idea of it. How many are going to back that up & actually buy one? Lots of people wanted to see the Ranger come back too. But sales so far have been pretty mediocre.

4Runner does well, but not spectacularly. Rav4 outsells it around 3 to one, Highlander not quite 2:1.

Jeep only makes 1 BOF SUV, the Wrangler. And it does very well. But most of what they sell is FWD crossovers. Compass, Renegade, Cherokee ... all crossovers. The Grand Cherokee is unibody, but RWD. So its neither a crossover nor a body on frame SUV.
