Z51 or Grand Sport
Greetings,
I am looking to trade in my Camaro SS for a 2LT Grand Sport or a Z51, I am looking to daily drive the Corvette, I am more inclined towards the Grand Sport but really concerned about the cars Ground Clarence and Tire Sidewall (335/25/20) which probably would make the ride harsh.... Just wanted to know your thoughts, Thanks...

Z51 is a little quicker but worse gas mileage. Ground clearance is right at 4" at the air dam. Same as on the C6 but the dam is further back on a C7 and I don't scrape near as much with the C7. I replaced the dam 3 times on the C6 and have not damaged the C7 in over 18 months. Magnetic select ride allows for a smooth ride choice - option on 2LT, std on GS.
I had a C6 Z51 and now have a C7 Z06 and lots of friends comment on how both ride smooth. Just my thoughts.. |

Hi, I might be a tad bit biased but I would go for the GS 100%. It looks sooooo much better than the Z51. Although both are great. The ground clearance is good and ride is also good. I use my as daily driver. I only tug it in when it rains or snows to save the harsh weather wear and tear. Check out my video for yourself.

As stated incorrectly above the Z51 isnt any quicker. I have a very steep driveway and have had zero issues with ground clearance. The MR shocks provide for a very comfortable drive in both Tour and Sport mode. The GS is a great car!

2cnd chance is correct on the GS performance vs Z51 using manual transmission. The GS is using the same 7sp transmission as the Z51. I thought it was using the trans from the Stingray.

Since the Z51 and GS have many similar components, perhaps the main question is whether you like the wide body, or you don't. Personally I don't and I'm also not a fan of the bolt-on ground effects (road debris catchers). The only item I wish my Z51 had is the GS carbon cermanic rotors.

My comments are just my opinion. Please don't take them personally. Thanks! |

I agree with you. When I bought my Z06, the only component of the Z07 package that I wanted was the carbon / ceramic brakes but could not get them by themselves.
