Crank Pulley Bolt removal help needed

I tried removing with an electric impact and air impact and no luck. I even tried heating up the bolt. I also tried removing it with a breaker bar but the crank moves. The car is an A8.

I saw some posts where some opened up the bell housing inspection plate and wedged a screw driver in against the torque converter bolts and the side to hold the crank in place.

Can someone explain how they did this? I don't want to break anything.

Seems like some sort of flywheel holder tool could be built that fits into the inspection plate which would be real help.

Thanks

Heat and Lowe's 1/2 drive 24V impact.... works great.

There are inspection shields between the engine and trans, I have a M6 and there is one on the driver's side black plastic that is super easy to take off, 1 10mm bolt head. Get the impact cause the manual method is froth with errors.

You will need an autozone dodge damper remover (the list it as an installer) or that ain't coming off. three short fingers inside the damper.

Heated the hell out of it and zapped it a few times with 1/2" impact. Literally flew right off.

yep, heat and a cheap 1/2" harbor freight impact and mine zipped right out. before the heat I couldn't budge it. I just used a burnsomatic for maybe 1 minute right on the head of the bolt.

Thanks everyone.

2018ZL1 - did you remove the starter to use this tool?

I bought a good Milwaukee 1/2" impact wrench 2-3 years ago and it didn't budge.

Thanks

take about a 2foot screwdriver up through the round inspection hole wedge it against flexplate/converter bolt, put socket on crank pulley bolt and turn engine easy until screwdriver catches ,Heat is the Key!!! you gotta get that factory thread locker hot and the bolt will come out. Good luck! I used a breaker bar with a piece of pipe and it wouldn't budge , but once it got hot enough just the breaker bar did the trick , no need for special tool

Remove black plastic inspection piece. Stop motor from turning over by wedging pry bar between teeth of fly wheel and trans casing. Heat crank bolt. And use the biggest breaker bar you can find lol

I heated up mine as well, but I took the starter off, and had a pry bar wedged on the fly wheel. Even with the car in low gear and parking brake on, I was able to break the rear tires loose on the cheater bar taking the bolt out. she's on there pretty good.

Well tried the heat and impact gun again and no luck, have the milwaukie 2763. I saw that the flywheel holding tools listed looked like an ls one which I had so I loosed the starter and pushed it out of the way. I was able to attach. Worked perfectly. With a breaker bar and a cast iron pipe I was able to loosen it. Was worried something would break. Luckily the socket was able to fit firmly to the bolt.

Next problem was my pulley puller doesn't work so ordered another.

Does anyone know if an ls crankshaft bolt works? Seems like they have a different part number so I probably stop at a dealer to pick one up.

Thanks for all the help.

Get an ARP balancer bolt. The hex head is 12 point and is much deeper. I always worried that the fairly shallow head on the stock bolt would round off when torquing to what must be at least 500 lbs needed to achieve the 90 degrees or whatever you're supposed to go to after torquing - can't remember the details but i recall having to put every bit of my 200lbs on a 36 inch cheater bar to get that s.o.b. torqued. I was surprised that i got it done without rounding it off. The ARP fits so snugly that you could jump up and down on the breaker bar without worrying about the socket slipping off
