I would think that at this late stage of development that any design change to the chassis would be very costly. Aren't there stamping jigs and so forth that have already been made? Am I thinking incorrectly?

It is an OLD issue that is being brought up because, well, Corvette. It was addressed long ago and was an easy fix.
