Just ordered the Katech box for the blower porting! Gonna have them port the snout for the 103mm TB and install a griptech 2.4 upper. Matched with my 15% OD, should be around 19% total OD or 13 pounds of boost before any loss from the cams efficiency.

Hey Guys... Had some time to finish dis-assembling today and I am officially down to a short block, and did some cleaning. Some thoughts and insight for others below.

1. The passenger side head above cylinder ONE, has a 13m hex drive... which sucks because after visiting (4) stores, NO ONE had one :( Turns out a 12mm will work.
2. Make sure you have a large drip pan for dis-assembly... it is super messy.
3. Bag and tag everything.
4. For cleaning I used a combination of razor, wire brush, 3M green pad, and parts cleaner... at least two hours of fun

CONCERNS in need of feedback...

1. Seems like ALOT of carbon deposits for 2,250 miles right? I am hoping that everything is normal / ok?... thoughts?
2. the injectors are also pretty dirty... can i clean them with parts cleaner and a brush?

Gonna start on the valve-train upgrades over the weekend.

Also thinking of port matching the exhaust ports... anyone else do this yourself?

Interesting. Were the valves and heads similar? What fuel, oil and how many miles on that phase 1 tune? Was it already tuned before JRE (and if so same question)? And I presume Ted has not seen the pics yet?

At least it cleaned up real nice.

That’s what happens when you tune them rich

It could be fuel, lack of PEA in the fuel detergent, No catch can etc.

Yes, the heads / chambers looks great as expected... just the pistons that looked excessive. I changed the oil at 50 miles after the ring breakin process, then at 500 miles then at 1000 miles (mobil one 5-30)

The car was tuned at the 1k mark and running an E50 blend, although we tested a few blend ratios before we settled on 50.

I sent them to Ted last night, still waiting to hear back.
Also sent this to Mike at Katech, and he thought it looked normal.

Thanks for the feedback... i have the MM ready to go in... as said earlier, there was ALOT of oil under the blower lid... everything was saturated. I hope thats it.

quality fuel helps, you in CA, so 91 only?

cleaning was fun, getting all the gasket material off was a blast!
trunnion upgrade isn't bad, i used my drill press as a press vs buying a arbor press.

Yeah... 91 only, which is why running E85 was so important... I know these LT4's are very knock sensitive, so i considered it a must.
Maybe it was running rich? Still waiting to hear back from JRE. All i know it she is clean now... and the CC should help alot! gonna tear down the heads this weekend and start on the trunnion upgrade, and hand porting
