LIGHTWEIGHT FLYWHEEL REVIEW ???

Hey everyone, I searched but couldn’t find any testimonials for ZL1 owners with feedback after a lightweight flywheel install? If you do, perhaps you can share your thoughts here? Pro’s and con’s and driving impressions?

Lightweight Flywheels work 'in principle' but unless you are an expert at matching revs and are able to shift seamlessly, it can lead to lots of stalling from a stop.

Thanks Checkmate, I use the active rev-match on my car for down shifting so not worried, will be getting the car tuned after the cam install so I can adjust that for the lighter flywheel.

Because the car will be around 750rwhp and more of a roll race street car, I wonder how the general benefits of the lighter mass will benefit in second to forth gear racing and normal everyday driving.

It's sounding more like juice may not be worth the squeeze... but I need to hear more driving impressions, and it doesnt seem like alot of ZL1's have done this.

Not many have done it since it would make it even more difficult to launch from a dig. Heavy car needs some inertia to help get it rolling.

I have a “reduced” weight flywheel from Mantic and I love it. Not sure if it meets the “lightweight” standard tho. It took about 15 minutes to get used to the different feel. To be honest, it drives way better than stock. I’m guessing the clutch is a major reason for that opinion though. When both systems (clutch and flywheel) are next to each other, it’s pretty impressive how much lighter the entire Mantic set up is.
