But my original post was trying to keep the fans on, after shut down...
I think all of the underhood components will last longer if the engine bay can vent for 10min +/- after shut down...

Aeroforce gauges can do this, fans and running intercooler pump. You can run it with the car off but I wouldn't run it longer than 10 mins as it will probably draw alot from the battery.

That's right! You can!

Between running the Aeroforce gauge and running the fan you would draw quite a bit of amperage and drain the battery down something decent though, so that's your only warning SOCAL.

Well, I finally made time to test the "fan after shut off" feature in HPT... and it does work perfect! Gonna play around and test for a while, so far have it set to run for 5 minutes at 25% after shut down, to help prevent heat soak. So cool that GM has that feature!

I like the idea! If for no other reason, to help slow the effects of excessive heat on all the plastics under the hood.

So it is probably not that much actually....5 minutes of runtime is 1/12 of an hour....so even if he was drawing 12 amps for that period of time he'd only discharge 1 Ah of capacity of the battery...with a 60 Ah plus battery that's really nothing...

I use this Aeroforce feature all the time at the track. Along with adding ice to my IC reservoir I can quickly cool down the IAT2 and MAT temps running the IC pump and fans. Without this function my MAT temp would never come down. So easy to use compared to a laptop. Be sure to monitor primarily MAT (sometimes called IAT3) as that is what the ECM uses to pull timing due to excessive temps. I believe 130 deg F is where it starts pulling timing, chime in if I'm off on this number.

I have always left my hood open for a few hours after coming home just for some of that reason.

During warm and hot periods I pull into my garage, open the hood, and blow an industrial fan into the engine bay for an hour or two, depending on how hot it is. I started doing this mainly to get the heat out as quickly as possible to keep the heat out of my already hot garage (it’s SW facing). But it has the added benefit of keeping the components much cooler under hood.

Back in the day in my 1995 Trans Am I replaced the mechanical water pump with a Mezeire electric and added a fan switch so I could run the fans in auto, low, or high. Turning the pump on and the fans on high would cool the engine down in a hurry. Much better than just turning the fans on since the coolant was also circulating. Would be cool to do that with the HX pump on the ZL1.
