AVOIDING HEAT SOAK... Brainstorm
Hey Guys... I'm sure you have all noticed... you park the car with an IAT3 of 120-140... you go back even 90 minutes later, and after you start the car, they are 160+
Although the cars do cool down fast when you start driving, I had an idea that I saw from my friends turbo Porsche. I wonder if when the car is turned off... if the electric fan stayed on for 5-10 min, and the HX pump ran for 3-5 min... if that would help the longevity of everything under the hood after shutdown. When I park at home, I pop the hood to help with cooling down and almost everything even the plastic parts are too hot to even touch. And if we thought that might help.... how in the hell could you program that? Thoughts? I'd love to test / try it!

Doesn't some other foreign cars have this feature also, seems I have seen some doing this.

I think you'd have to do something like the FII interchiller to eliminate it. Even with a water cooler like mine it will eventually get hot if driven on an extended basis

For what you’re after, the philosophy is similar. Recent conversation about the Too High PSI controller makes me think something like this is ideal. (I can’t recall if that had 2 or 4 extra inputs/outputs. Also what units these extra inputs offer) Maybe not the exact component, but something similar minus MAF and piggy-backing the ECM. You would need to have an input from the coolant temp sensor and an output to your fan. Set that desired temp and let it do the work. Have a 2nd input picking up IAT and have that output going to HX pump. Set desired temp and let it do the work. Of course all of this would be achieved with a key off scenario. If I were to approach this on my own as a DIY I’d feel compelled to add separate sensors and not splice into the sensors the ECM is using. Maybe something like this product. This may not work with key-off. It could be wired hot but that might also cause some sort a parasitic drain. Lingenfelter TBRC-001 Temperature Based Relay Controller https://www.lingenfelter.com/product/L460220000.html Let the brainstorming continue!

You can use the "ignition off fans" settings in the tune to control the main fans. Not sure about the HEX pump. It's probably in there if someone wanted to find it and get HPTuners to add it.

The default ECT threshold here is set pretty high at 225 °F, this is likely why the fan doesn't stay on for most people after killing the engine.

It works, to do any justice and bring intercooler loop down to a temp you'd like to see I hope you have a set of batteries you plan on plugging into the car Way too much thermal mass there to run the fans long enough to make it worth anything using the onboard battery.
I'm not aware of anything other than the pump On/Off control that is available in HP Tuners, nothing in that circuit uses temperature, it is on or not when the car is running.

Makes sense... What is your opinion on a sweet spot for cooling / battery life? Maybe run the fan at 50% for 10 min?

Ice tank will drop intercooler temps in a hurry… Just throwing that out there.

That's why it try to talk people out of the ADM and other small reservoirs that mount over the headers or on the cooling fan shroud. 1. there not big enough, and 2. the engine heat does them no favors. a better IC pump also helps
