ADDING NPP BACK IN ???

So… In search for more volume… I went ARH + HFC + AWE Touring…
Amazing IDLE… but WOT was terrible… so I added a 3rd X pipe muffler… now WOT is great but low speed it quite… thinking of adding back in the NPP valves in a custom location before the AWE just for the moments when I want more idle volume… has anyone used the 2.5” NPP valves as a cut out and dump valve?
Any issues you can think of?

Not the answer you want to hear but could magnaflow sport, this was my decision years ago and do not regret it. They keep NPP valves on that system.

To put NPP back on you are going to have to murder up that exhaust. You'd have to cut off muffler and put in a Y before it, cut post muffler Y out, attach one tip to muffler, mount valve and tip to extension of pre-muffler Y.

Attached is what the borla S w/npp system looks like

Sounds like a lot of trouble when you already have a great system now. I don't know how long you've had the additional center muffler but they usually get louder over time with more mileage. I have the same setup basically except Kooks headers and I'm quite happy with it at part throttle and full throttle.

This is why I kept the NPP with the original muffler and it sounds great on my car. I have 2" headers w/cats into 3" exhaust. Barks when I get on it, crackles at idle with the cam, cruises freeway like stock. I did pull the fuse on the NPP.

Sounds great with the stock muffler is subjective of course. Most disagree, but all that matters is that you like it.

Just like all the other exhaust systems on the market, it's all subjective. Better than spending thousands on an exhaust to find out what MOST others like.

Thanks for the feedback guys… Trust me, no one is more frustrated than me for feeling the need to modify more… but I kept the old parts and love the idea of dumping the exhaust after the X muffler and before the AWE for more volume… I assume that would be a lot louder… Im thinking of something like this… but between the mufflers like I said. Anyone else do this?

I guess I’m worried that the “Y” diverted will either hurt the current sound or performance when it’s closed…. Due to added turbulence at the split?

For sure. Use what sounds best to you. Aftermarket options exist for those that prefer a different sound.

everyone has there favorite exhaust.. Mines Borla had on my 96z28, 2010 SS, 2016SS and the 2017Zl1..

I wish I would of stuck with headers and stock NPP minus the cats of course. Still pretty hard to hear a phone call or music with the Borla NPP. If I didn't have NPP I would never be able to make a call. Don't get me wrong it sounds good and under full throttle with 1000 plus rwhp it catches everyone's eye. And start ups at any venue it scares the dog piss out of everyone! So i got that going for me which is nice.

OK team... I am bringing this thread back... I want more "attention seeking" idle volume for low speed driving / car shows / piss off the neighbors, etc...

Like I said in the original post, I still have the factory cat back with NPP valves, and i'd like to stitch them back in either after the cats (super loud, and I dont think there is enough room) or after the center X (should be perfect)... that would only bypass the AWE mufflers.

I like this plan, because they can be controlled by the driving modes just like before.

What would you do?
