GM CAI 84877903 Install

Had my dealer install 84877903 CAI Kit and tune on my 2021 2SS Camaro yesterday. Runs and sounds great. Happy with that. But.... 1) I did not get a CA CARB sticker for under the hood, and 2) They did not put the little piece of AC line shielding on under the air box. They say neither piece came with the kit and was not mentioned in the instructions. ??? The instructions I could find on line say differently. Is there any reason to care about that stuff?

I would care, thats the reason for getting the GM CAI - the 50-state legality and the CARB sticker.

Keeping the warranty was the big reason to go GM for me. But you are probably right on the sticker. I have the parts dude checking on it for me. He seemed real helpful.

I have the PN, hopefully GM can send you a new one. I also have an extra AC shielding if you want it. PM me

I got mine from the GMpartsguy and seems to me the sticker was in the box. I installed the part and remember placing the sticker under the hood too.

Then took it to the dealer for the re-flash. Easy peezy.
What I don't remember is anything about A?C line shielding. Is that something new?
Thanks.

Not sure if it is new. The instruction doc said to put it on. So I guess I should put it on. I have one on the way to me from another member/poster here, which is very appreciated. Thanks!

It came in the kit, in a small bag by itself.

I don't know anything official, but I know that GM has been trying to get out of the CAR sticker business. Did you order it with the vehicle (as an LPO)? If it is on the window sticker it might not be included in the kit, it would be part of the certification that GM submits to the Federal Government. Getting the sticker updated every model year with CARB is a big PITA and they were trying for a while to just submit the CAI with the vehicle certification. I never found out how it worked out, but that could explain it.

O.K. Think I figured it out. Back when I got my cai it was part#84315276 and the "shielding" was referred to in the instructions as the "wrap sleeve with tie straps" to be placed on the proximal end of the HVAC tube. I double checked and mine's still there doing whatever little bit of insulating it's s'pposed to do.
You can see the shielding just under the air intake tube that is supposed to hold the "hydrocarbon absorber".
Now the CAI may be eye candy, as well as the tower brace, the MSD Airforce intake manifold, and the 95mm TB you can't really see- but all I can tell you is the car runs very strong without so much as a hiccup!

Is the re-flash included with the purchase or did the dealer charge you? If so how much?

The instructions manual contains a bar code that the dealer scans. That way there’s no charge for the flash, or the install.

I concur, the cost of installation and the re-flash is included in the cost of the part. I confirmed this with my dealer before installation and also confirmed if he would mind if I just put the cai on myself and then made an appoinment to have him re-flash. He was cool with that but, be prepared to get different answers from different people through out the chain of employees you'll speak to.

Get the OK from the head of the Service Dept. guy and his name! When you meet resistance, just confidently drop his name and tell'em "check with so and so, he 's already approved this."

And OP- the service guy very likely didn't see the sticker and likely discarded it. I would try very strongly to get it replaced. You may never need it but when you sell that car one day, it could be a bigger deal to the next guy.

The MSD IM also came with a EPA sticker and even though currently Utah is doing zero vehicle inspections (no safety or emissions!), both my stickers are proudly displayed under the hood.
