Oil level 2 readings

I have noticed that the oil level on the dipstick shows 2 different levels when I check it, full on one side 1/2 quart low on the other side. Non-Z51 cold or hot does not matter. Anyone else see this. It has been the same level since I picked it up level has not changed.

Dipstick issues

I have exactly the same problem. My dipstick reads full on the engine side and almost a quart low on the fender side. So far, I cannot get anyone to tell me whether the high side or low side reading is correct.

This is an engineering problem, and the owner's handbook does not deal with it. So far, my dealer is giving me very unhelpful answers.

Has anyone changed the oil and noted whether the high or low side reading is correct?

I will be getting my oil changed this Sat. for the 1st time and will post what my reading is then. But my readings have always been full on one side 1/2 qt. low on the other side since car was delivered in Sept.

Today I had the oil changed for the 1st time and now the level reads full on both sides if the dip stick. Since the oil level was always full on one side and 1/2 quart low on the other since delivery. I don't know what to assume was or is correct.

If you rotate the dipstick before removal, I believe you eliminate this problem. I assume the reading after this is an accurate one.

I am not sure how rotating the dip stick would assure a accurate reading.
I would love to see those instructions put in the owners manual.

It's in the Owner's Manual... Chapter 9-5 & 9-6 "Track Events and Competitive Driving".

OK please explain what this has to do with the oil level reading being different on the 2 sides of the dipstick whether the engine is hot or cold. My example was full reading on one side 1/2 a quart low on the other side.

Racing and non-racing is the way I understand it.

This has nothing to do with racing. The day I recieved the car I checked the oil and one side of the dip stick read full the other side read 1/2 quart low. At 4000 miles it still read this way. No racing, well maybe a little but racing is not a factor. I don't believe the other people that had commented about the 2 differrent readings mentioned anything about racing either only the 2 different readings on the dipstick one side showing full and the other side showing 1/2 quart low mor more.

Just telling you what the owner's manual said.

I'm pretty sure it has something to do with racing.

The section of the manual you posted did have to do with racing. But my post did not have anything to do with racing. All other replies had to do with the oil level on dipstick readings that differ from one side to the other side.
