2 v8 guys asked where i got my exhaust

Well in the last week ive had 2 camaro ss people follow me and ask me what the hell exhaust i have on my car because its loud and deep. neither of them could believe I had a v6 for one (they didnt see the lack of mail slot) and that i just had straight pipes. One of these SS's had a corsa exhaust and it didnt hold a candle. I paid $70 to have my mufflers cut off and 3inch pipe put in its place (no headers, nothing done to the cats), and 2 SS guys loved the sound of my v6 better than theirs.

True story, and I know im going to get some smart ass comments from v8 guys who spent mutli-hundred dollars for their setups and want to defend them, so let a rip.

heres a video of my exact setup (not my car):

With a cam and headers i bet yours sounds like a beast.

But, for $70 on a v6 you cant beat straight pipes.

I have seen some very loud V6's. I have a 3" Magnaflow comp catback on my SS. nothing to write home about at idle or low speed cruising but WOT it get's pretty loud.

The V6 can be loud but the one in the video doesn't come close to sounding like a V8.

the STOCK v8 and v6 is so quite. without a aftermarket exhaust they sounds like a Prius. So i agree the one in the video doesnt sound anything like a Stock V8 it sounds better

Sounds nice at Idle, but its a bit loud for my taste. I bet its raspy as hell too. Hate rasp, makes the car sound like its coughing. Surprisingly deep for a 6 though.

Mine with 3 inch pipe has little to no rasp at all.

sounds good and plenty loud for a V6 but nowhere near the sound, and depth of a V8 rumble! enjoy the ride and the sound! exhaust notes are better than the radio I've always said!

As stated above, there is no "rumble" in the stock SS exhaust.

This is what I think of any time I hear that a V6 has been straight piped . Guess I spent too many days at the race track in the late 80's & early 90's when NASCAR ran nothing but V6's in the Busch series. It was such a gawd awful raspy swarm of bees clatter. Thank God NASCAR came to their senses and switched them to V8's with smaller Carb's in the mid 90's to try and save the teams money by using the same engines as the Cup cars. It may have saved my hearing & sanity not having to listen to that racket . With that said if you can deal with it? More power to you . Not me though, obviously.
