Thank you for posting the pics!

Mine was replaced a week ago, fit was perfect - no more gap above the passenger side window.

Glad to hear it worked out for you without further incident.

I just got a windshield tint strip so now I can't see it from the front.

No, sorry mine was on the side (as Alfieboy's post mentions) above the passenger door window. The black weatherstripping didn't cover the edge of the headliner.

The new one has more "fray" at the front, so I'm gonna try some U channel to "encapsulate" the front edge. I have a tint strip so you can't see it, but I don't want it to get worse and then be able to see it, have the headliner replaced again, etc.

Dealer has to replace mine. Was annoyed when I took delivery that it was the first thing I noticed. Oh well. Anything made by man is fallible.

Right..

Or... the simpler answer is that the American plant where they assemble the 6th gen is just doing a crappier job and this is part of the laundry list of other quality issues that the 5th gen never had from the Ontario plant...

Anyway, great, yet another of a dozen or so quality issues I need to look out for if I ever buy a used 6th gen. I bought my 5th sight unseen as a transfer vehicle, and it was fine aside from a couple exterior scratches previous owner that I had fixed, but there's no way I'd do this again. How many years of production does this plant need to stop being lazy with their mistakes? We're into MY2018 now. Somehow I think the odds look good that the last 6th gen to roll off the line in a few years will still have issues.

I checked my 2016 RS and it has the frayed edge. I checked some other vehicles and they likewise had it. Example: my neighbor's 2017 Equinox has a frayed edge. I some him a 2008 Saturn Outlook, it had a frayed edge. My daughter has a 2010 Traverse, and it was frayed. Now, the kicker. My wife has a 2013 Cadillac ATS and the edge is molded with a rounded edge and not frayed. The way it should be. I also have a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee and it is rounded and finished properly. This seems to be a supplier issue that GM should keep a close eye on. It is cheap looking. You cannot see my rough edge, but it disappoints me somewhat. I love the car and it is what it is.

I would be fine if it was on the side and etc and not have to deal with the dealership taking off the windows and etc to install a new one... IF the headliner didn't hang so bad behind the front windshield. It's that bad.

Is your only purpose here to convince everyone that 5th gen >>>>> 6th gen?

On this 5th gen versus 6th gen, I found this problem with other GM vehicles. This not just a 6th gen issue. More widespread that people are unaware of. Unless you are on a forum like this, where people communicate everything about their "dream car," no one would ever see this issue.
