The key will be in the tuning and how much is exposed to the the consumer. Tuning EVs in the future could be kind of fun but I don't see how they will ever tickle all the senses the way ICE based performance cars do.

I have a feeling the first Dodge E-muscle cars are going to come with a library of exhaust notes that are tied to your right foot. They will replace exhaust and engine sounds with a high quality sound system that replicates the noises.
This is why I have different types of vehicles in my garage to choose from depending on my mood, as there is no one perfect car!!

I hear ya. I just need to figure out how to afford more toys as I need to pay for cars my wife and kids drive.

I actually got into sim racing lately. The technology has improved quite a bit and the racing experience is pretty cool. I was surprised to see the high end gear you can purchase for these rigs. Triple screen immersion, Direct drive wheels, load cell pedals, Buttkicker tranducers to shake the rig as you drive. Lots of fun.

In the same boat here, two kids in collage and a wife that works means I pay for several(not fun) cars. Even if I said F it and went out to buy one...I'm out of parking spaces presently. I also enjoy sim racing and have a Fanatec FFB setup, I mainly use it to get used to the tracks I go to in real life as a training tool for visuals. It helps to kill time at work when it's slow too. lol

Going back to your last post I agree the future of EV's could be very interesting. An affordable EV with a motor on each wheel, a fake manual trans, and a library of engine noises to choose from(Borla is already doing this for the MachE) would go along way to pushing me into one. We'll just have to see what the future brings.

Ugh - nothing worse than fake engine noise, I prefer quiet

Motor at each wheel, 700 hp and 3200 pounds or less is a nice goal

You guys see the Blazer SS unveil yesterday? I don't like the exterior looks (thought the RS ICE ones looked better) but the performance is nice. EV cars are definitely here to stay, and look how far they've come in just the last decade. Idk where they can go from here, but many manufacturers, even including previously crappy ones like KIA and Hyundai are putting 500hp motors in them now.

Yeah, an SS Blazer for $66k will probably perform the same as our ZL1s from 0-60mph. It will be a nice quiet ride just like the Model Y and Mach-E. They will be much nicer to drive than their ICE counterparts for sure.

I am reserving judgement until I see a true EV sports coupe that doesn't start at $100k. It will be tough since you really need the kinda of tech you see in the Model S Plaid otherwise these EVs fall on the face after about 70mph. Fine for the street but they lack the highway pull performance. They are also heavy and they need to work out the software tuning and open diffs they us now. The cars are so buttoned down with software it drives you nuts.

This is why you see the values of light weight manual trans sports cars going through the roof - looked at manual P car used prices lately? GT3s for $250k+!!

ALOT of people don't want an over computerized/synthetic everything driving experience, reminds me of the movie Demolition Man - and don't care how quick it is 0-60

Yea that is one of the reasons I sold my 2019 C7 grand sport...it was so numb, unless I turned everything off, but even then it was still muted. The auto in that car killed it. Luckily there are better ones in the zl1s, but then we get back to the over computerized stuff you're mentioning. Thinking back on it, I wonder when cars hit their "peak" in terms of being totally badass without all the other stuff interfering with the experience. Come to think of it, my manual trans 08 c6 was pretty amazing with some modifications (brakes, bolt ons, tune). I also had an 06 EVO IX that was AMAZING for a stock car. That was probably the only car I've owned that was so good off the lot I never felt the need to modify it.

So, I had a C7 Grand Sport Vert M7, which should have solved the muted driving experience that you describe. The M7 with the top down helps enhance the experience but it still felt muted to me as well. I think the main reason is that the Grand Sport is so well planted with its Z06 suspension and 12" wheels and tires that is actually needs more power to wake it up. The LT1 in that car is a great combo if you are looking for a very stable/planted ride to produce consistent lap times.

I have the ZL1 now. The LT4 with gobs of torque helps to give it more character since with this amount of power you can upset the chassis even at 3,900lbs.

I found the C5 Z06 I owned had the right balance. 405hp and 3,100lbs. I would love to have that car back with the current M6 transmissions we have in the Camaro. The C6 Z06 was probably even better since it had the higher revving 505hp motor and still weighed under 3,200lbs.

The cars just keep getting heavier and more refined, which ruins the driving experience for folks that appreciate more of that rawness. This is why driving a Miata with a measly 181hp is still so much fun. 2,300lbs paired to a short-geared six speed. Feels like a go-kart on the streets but the lack of power means it falls flat once you reach highway speeds. Although, 60mph in a Miata feels like 100mph.

Oh yea, forgot about those 505hp z06 models. Those were pretty incredible cars. A friend had one, and with only intake, exhaust, tune, and tires he ran 10.90s - which was insane for that 2005-2007 era
