Me and my Z are on the heavy side so I know faster times are possible. I believe a low 11 is possible with the manual, even more possible with some kind of drag radial.
What was your launch technique to get that time? Everything off, leaving off idle?

I believe my car is faster with nannies on, and with a little stall.

But stock wise, it's a good 2 tenths or more faster than a manual.
Quicker usually but not always faster, as manual typically lose less power to the wheels and is lighter. Time/acceleration is usually lost during the manual shifts, not the in-gear acceleration. Gearing is another factor as well of course.
I find manual more fun and engaging but if drag racing is your main thing, it is a lot easier to get lower 60ft's and ET's with auto.

Quicker is faster right? Not everyone can shift like a pro. I've driven manual cars since I was 14 and had 4 manual sports cars until the ZL1. I've also had 3 sport bikes, all 1000cc. I don't believe I can shift faster like most pro's but I can shift better than the average drive but not better than an auto.

Manuals are lighter than auto's, yes. But race a auto ZL1 vs a manual ZL1 and it'll be equal until the manual has to shift.

I enjoy manual vehicles too but auto's are more consistent and easier to drive. Roll racing is a toss up but the auto will win when everything is equal.

The difference in gearing plays a significant role as it relates to the ZL1. More gears that are tightly spaced together and faster shifts keeping you in boost. Notice the boost gauge on the A10 vs. the M6.

Yes I know and why I mentioned gearing being another factor as well in my last reply. I didn't feel like going into detail as you did however. I was mainly speaking generally. I actually chose the A10 in my ZL1 due to it's advantages you mentioned. I'm sure you know the A10 works magically mated with the Mustang GT gen 3 coyote as well. Most other autos dont have this much of an advantage however.

To me quicker and faster are different things.
My Tesla 3 performance is quick and will beat my GT500 from stop light to stoplight with ease. Race them from a 60 roll on the highway and the Shelby will leave it for dead...
My tesla Plaid is quick and fast

Other cars quick but not really fast imo are cars like the C8 and trackhawk. Cars that aren't that powerful but can put the power down and get out of the hole quick; but, not that fast accelerating from a roll.

It's quick and fast until the batteries go flat, or until you roll it's nearly 4800 pounds of (un-lean) beef out to the nearest roadcourse, then even an SS 1LE kills it

I hate one dimensional cars - and the current crop of EVs will become outdated faster than a Dell laptop

More light and raw please, less pork https://www.topgear.com/car-reviews/...dr/first-drive

As an "old fart" aka 40 year old... its funny to see this statement. racing back in the late 90s / early 2000s, the manual cars were almost always faster. Granted, either you had a 700R4 or 4L60 if you had the auto, so making those handle the added power was always the tough part.

but this A10 is just insane. specially coming from a 700R4 guy. Now i just wish i could put the a10 in my iroc! lol

Oh yes. Just like how a Q60 will walk away from a Camaro SS at a dead stop but go from a roll and the AWD quickness disappears for the Q60.

The modern auto's are much better than they were 20 years ago. DCT's were where it all started but sadly it's taken GM/Ford/Dodge until now to make comparable trans or just finally give in and make a DCT.

This is a good video! Love Jason Cammisa and the content he's been putting out since moving to Hagerty has been especially top notch.

Agreed, it's always an entertaining watch and I usually learn something new.
