AFM is turned off on my car (even the hardware is removed now) because of my upgrades, but I'd never had an issue with it prior to that. It worked fine and was mostly non-intrusive: the only way to detect the transition was to switch to a gauge cluster view that has a V8/V4 indicator, but V4 mode was tangibly weaker for a second or two until I gave the car enough gas to reactivate V8 mode, which was to be expected.

Its positive impact on fuel mileage was not relevant in my case, less than or around 1 mpg. Since I knew from the start I wouldn't ever drive this car 250,000 miles or more, I never worried about any uneven wear or cylinder temps this may or may not cause long term.

All in all, if I were you, I probably wouldn't mess with it unless an upgrade requires turning it off, as several others stated above.

I bought a new GMC pickup in November that had a factory delete on it and gave my a 50 dollar credit, I would have gave them 50 to delete it.

Delete it and never look back... one of the nicest driving improvements you can do especially if you have done any exhaust mods

I swap my Range AFM delete between my ‘17 SS and my ‘16 GMC Sierra. I may just pick up another one so I don’t have to swap. It makes a bigger difference in the truck with the herky-jerky 6-speed auto.

A dataset of one: I had a 07 Tahoe with AFM, drove it hard, kept up on oil changes, and had no lifter issues until 276K. Same methodologies, same types of components. I swapped all the lifters, drove it for another 5k, and sold it when my '22 1SS arrived. I don't expect radically different engine results from the Camaro. I can't really see the rest of the car hitting the type of lifespan the SUV had, but will see what we get. I run and repair cars (do most of my own work) until I just can't stand driving them anymore. It took 196k for me to hate a 1996 Corvette, so I can put up with a lot.

I bought my Range device the minute I bought my 2020 Shock convertible. Had it on since day one. No issues

When I tuned my engine I had it disabled. Much better feeling without it. IMO, a car with this power level should not be switching back and forth...and my gas mileage is still great for a V8.

It went away when we did the cam. I physically removed the valves from my exhaust mostly because it bothered me that they existed. Same with the crush section. To be perfectly honest, fuel economy (trip meter before and after compared after a few thousand miles) hasn't changed a whole lot even with the blower, cam and DOD/AFM deleted.
