Weird Noise at Startup on ZL1 - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

Recently (past week), I've noticed a weird noise when starting up my ZL1. It doesn't happen all the time, but majority of the time it does. I usually start my car up 5-6 times/day since it's my daily driver (morning, lunch, going home). The sound it makes almost sounds like a whine or a whirring sound, a couple times it even sounded like half of an ambulance siren (weird I know). Does anybody know what this could be? Valve lifters? I thought the cold weather had something to do with it but it doesn't get colder than 55 degrees here in Socal

I was thinking of taking it to the dealership this weekend to see what's up

Most likely this is your blower.. take it in.. gm will replace the entire blower.

When the rotor bearing act up this is what they do..

Mine makes a noise while the car is cold too. I think my noise is more from the clutch/transmission because it stops when I push the clutch in. After the car warms up, the noise is gone. And yes, it sounds something like the ambulance you mentioned.

Yes it's stock engine/tranny wise. Thanks to all for the help

Sad part is they replace these things and its such a easy fix to.

Dropped it off @ connell Chevy this morning...now I'm driving a Chevy cruze for the weekend until

we'll see what happens! BTW: They had a crt 2013 zl1 (auto, sunroof, footwell lighting, painted stripe, exposed insert) there if anybody is looking for one.

Has anyone had their blower replaced? If so did they drop the engine from the bottom? Read that you could not get the blower off without removing engine or does techs drill holes in the area below windshield? Just curious.

I bought my Tahoe from them and also had it serviced there. Good luck with your blower replacment.

Really?! that sucks bro, sucks more because yours is #550 and you have a 2013; mine was #80 out of the 2012 model so it was one of the 1st ones made and I'd expect a glitch like this.

They called me this morning and said that indeed the blower is going bad, so they have to order a new one and not sure if it's coming out of LA warehouse or the East Coast; either way it's a 2 day install (they have to drop the engine out of subframe to install) so I won't have my car back until maybe Friday

. I'm rockin this Chevy Cruze the whole week (35mpg my ass, I'm seeing more like 22mpg

)

Bottom line, I knew I should've bought the GT500 that comes since it comes with the TVS 2300 blower instead of this TVS 1900 crap
