Gas guzzler tax is calculated by the fuel mileage the car gets. That is why the auto is twice as much. If the manual would get less MPG that it now does, the tax would go up.

And kill your 100K powertrain warranty. The eliminator plugs or just a 50 cent resistor from Radio Shack will do the same thing, and not cause warranty problems. With a motor this $$$$$, I'd think many will want to keep it in warranty.

You're just babying it too much.

Drive it a little harder and you'll never have it come on.

Unbelievable. What's next, AFM + $2600 for the auto?

I almost always take it to 3k rpm before I shift anyways. You don't want to lug an engine during break in. I've not encountered skip shift yet by doing this.

I had a 2002 SS and it would come on all the time. My ZL1 usually does not come on at all.
Only twice it has so far, and that was because people in front of me slowed down or put on the brakes right before I was going to shift, my rpms dropped and it plopped me in 4th.

Yes I installed the eliminator in my 2011 Vert, but in 18k miles, I think I've seen the message appear 4-5 times.

Haven't seen the message since I installed the second eliminator. The first one has a broken resistor wire, which did eliminate the skip shift, but caused the check engine light to come on. It's all good now.

Installed my eliminator today. Hardest part was driving on to the lift.
