It Appears Ford isn't done with the HP Wars

Just saw this article on Car & Driver. As if the announcement of the 650 HP 2013 GT500 wasn't enough, Ford just keeps pumping ponies out of their venerable pony car. The funny thing is they can pump all the HP they want out of that chassis, I don't think it can keep up with the Camaro chassis and traction issues will plague this thing just like it did the 800HP Super Snake last year. The worst part is the Price: $150k + the price of a base GT500 puts you at $200k for a MUSTANG! . You would have to be the most die-hard Ford guy on earth or just a plain idiot to buy this thing instead of a Lambo or Ferrari. You don't even get an upgraded interior in the Shelby for that much money, way to go Ford

That's all Shelby. I don't think Ford has anything to do with that.

What he said. Ford has nothing to do with that car. People buy a GT500 from Ford and then send it of to SA for upgrades. I.e. Hennessy, Lingenfelter, etc.

...and I predict they'll sell about a dozen.

Now, I like overpriced Mustangs just as much as the next Mustang fan , but that Shelby 1000... is truly the king of overpriced Mustangs. For what it costs, I'd take a clean Ford GT, and still have enough left over for a new Abarth Fiat.
For me to consider a $200K Mustang, it had better be a true exotic in Mustang clothes...and that Shelby 1000 sure isn't. It's little more than another modded Mustang. I think you could have that car built for you by someone else, for $75K less.

1100hp? Kinda makes you wonder how much power it is possible to have and still be controllable. Hell, at that level, how much farther can you go before a step on the gas makes the car twist and crumple into shrapnel like a soda can? That must be one damn stiff, heavy car.

Exactly. This has got the be the biggest rip off ever. First you have to buy a $50k mustang then send it to shelby and pay them another $150k just to double the bhp??? Pfff I could sent it to any well respected shop and get it for less than $40K easily!!! This has even hennesey beat and thats pretty damn bad!!

Why even bother discussing this out dated 2012 model modified and sold through a 3rd party..... Next year's Supersnake will be light years better then this car so why even bother releasing this.... I almost referred to it as a POS but I think that's a little harsh.

This is not a factory option from Ford.
Did someone say 1000? The Hennessey HPE1000 Camaro has been around for almost 2 years:

When dealing with aftermarket builds, the man who has the biggest wallet will generally win. That wallet will be much thinner afterwards.

Both .. there are 2 versions (one is 1100hp and uses the 4L Whipple) .. See the motortrend information (linke below):
http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...sc_first_look/

BTW .. I would never put that type of money down for this car as in that price range there are a lot of other options ... I guess if I had the money though I'd have this car plus the others .. LOL ..
