Has anyone taken there 2013 GT500 to a drag strip yet, other than the mag tests?

I want to see what people come up with.

I'm dying to go, but I'm not sure I have the balls to take a 56,000 dollar car that makes too much power for me to be comfortable with to the drag strip just yet.

I'd imaging using launch control in mid 80* weather, I could probably get into the 12.9-13.0@120 range. But, that's all 'self-bench racing' until I actually get there

I'm up to 320 miles in almost two weeks...few other guys are well well over that with a week less of seat time. I fail

They're not finished givin' them the full Zaino/detail treatment yet. Especially if they're the lighter no-package stripe-delete ones. Lighter 'n slipperier makes 'em faster...

I'm here in the midwest..

I'll be more than happy to track your car..

I've got similar power, stick shift and I'm doing in on an IRS.. You at least have SRA, tires and a useful launch control

Haha I think it would be tough beating a new expensive car. Has anyone at all ran their car?

BINGO.

I agree with that as well... And I don't really see where I've fallen into the "mine's bigger than yours" bashing category either... I've attempted to be as objective as I can.

I'm trying to be a decent citizen, and I do currently own a Camaro ('81 Z/28, among other Chevrolet products), but please don't blame me for this insanity... I just can't believe it's allowed to persist.

In 1995 I took delivery of my R Model Cobra, trailered it out to my local 1/4 mile track, and took the first of 4 passes with 8 miles on the odometer.

It was cathartic.

In '93 I entered on points night with my '93 Corvette 6-speed, 1,700 miles and 100% stock, and won the fast-trophy class on a 13.39 dial (that was damn quick for a stock LT1, it was nailing 13.39-13.41 all night with 107+ traps).

Actually smartass, you're half correct. I didn't have the dealership detail the vehicle, so I finished the claybar, polish, wax on Sunday.

But, I'm still not comfortable enough driving the car at WOT, so I won't be tracking it any time. It'll happen sometime I'm sure, but not yet.

And Launch Control isn't going to keep my car straight in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear at WOT.

If Ford got through an entire press day without at least one rookie editor chewing a wall, you'll do just fine...

But I'd give the clutch/driveline a bit of time to set-in and go through a bunch of heat cycles...

Media guys also didn't have to worry about paying for the car after they wrecked it, nor having their insurance go through the roof, nor having their wives kill them.

All the more reason that they'd be likelier to get sideways!
