I had a highly modified 1986 Camaro IROC-Z with just over 300 horses. I think that counts as "a v8 smal block chevy lol real camaro got a v8inside."

P.S. - I also feel that the V6 camaro has a lot of mod potential that the V8 couldn't match. With the 5000 dollars saved from getting the V6, you could bolt on twin turbos and push 450-500 horses. Especially since the block for the LLT is designed to hold 4.0L, and its cylinders are lined - I have a feeling it will be able to push high amounts of boost.

P.P.S. - I also see that you drive a V6 camaro anyway, so maybe you're in that "90" percent?

The V6 is actually starting to look pretty attractive, especially given the fact that it's going to have more hp than the mustang's GT.

/\/\ You've got to be kidding me, that DI V6 is already at 11.3 CR, there's no way in hell you're gonna be able to push any appreciable amounts of boost on pump gas. The LS3 has tons of potential left in it, those heads match or outflow the best the aftermarket units available. Cam only C6 guys are putting down some ridiculous numbers with LS3's.

Well, you have to consider that its DI - its an entirely different ball game. DI engines seem to hold higher CR's on lower octane ratings. Similarly to how fuel injection can hold higher CR's on lower octanes than carbed can. So, I have a feeling it will be able to hold more boost than you think. Especially with VVT. I may be wrong. I just think it has the potential.
- Xanthos

P.S. - And I wasn't trying to say potential meaning more power than the V8 period, I mean more % improvement. Example - you mod the V8 to 600 hp. You mod the V6 to 600 hp. Which one has more improvement? The 50% gain on the v8, or the 100% gain on the V6? And as far as high boost, I was referring to the block in that sentence. Maybe you should reread it. You can drop the CR without buying a new block.

Yeah, I think we can agree the V6 is going to be a great buy and it's going show up GT owners, just wish some DI technology would have made it over into some LS variant.

My dad had a 96 vette that I learned to drive in...when I wasn't learning in the Avalanche.

Ok, so the vette was only a 'special occasion' car.... meaning I only drove it twice but it was still an LS1. Making me one of the 10% I suppose.

I think that more will be buying the V6 now, not many though. I'm still set on an SS though

I think once gas gets higher in price in the future I may start to care less about the fuel economy of an 8 cylinder. For now I'm sticking with the 6, personally.

It's sounds like a great V6, one that may sway me away from the V8. The mustang's V6 isn't even in the same ballpark.

Someone finally seems to share my angle on this!

I was all about a V8 when i joined these forums and gas prices were still in the low $2.00 range. By the time this thing hits the streets it is not unlikely that we will be paying $4.50/gal and by the time I would actually buy one $5.00/gal. Add on the fact that the LS3 takes premium and the V-6 is looking like a sure thing.
