Buying a S/C - Whipple or Magnuson?
So. I'm about to pull the trigger on a s/c but can't, for the life of me, decide whether to get a Whipple 2.9L or Maggie! For now, I'm hoping to keep the stock bottom end alive and well for many years to come. Eventually, if I keep the car, I'd like to say I'll build a stronger bottom end. My goal for now - I'd LIKE to see 600rwhp. I REALLY want very strong torque at low RPM's like 2,000 - 2,500. I keep defaulting on the Maggie but I keep reading they get hot when you start feeding the engine more boost. I have Kooks 1 7/8 headers with corsa cat back so I'll be upgrading to the 3.6 and CAI shortly after (not right away).
Your thoughts? |

If your end goal is 600hp go with the Magnacharger, it will get you there no problem. We have some good deals on Magnacharger as well. We can hook you up with a Camaro5 discount too.

Go with the Whipple Lower IAT better for long tern goals.. and it make crazy power and torque out the box... Most complete and well thought of twin screw out there...
Just my opinion But I love MY WHIPPLE! |

Lovin my Whipple also. However I have not had both. But I can tell you that my 04 Cobra with a stock ported Eaton with added boost makes for one hot blower. From my research it sounds as if the maggie is closely related to the Eaton.I sure did love the sound though. I miss that. Most Cobra guys go with Whipple and Ford uses it as a approved part through Ford Racing.
I know this is a Camaro forum but nothing wrong with learning from all OEM's testing and recomendations.

TVS2300 here.... 560RWHP/520RWTQ on modest boost and supporting mods. The Maggy will easily get you 600+ wheel --- plus, I think Hendrix-Engineering is still running their special of Maggy+Axles. I think for your goals, it's the better option blower since it's sized to run optimally in the range you're looking for..
