I’m not 100% sure but the adapter plates are different. They said these newer ones are stronger and better quality, whatever that means.

UPDATE:
The new Carbon Fiber driveshaft is installed and after a few test runs, ZERO vibrations! I was able to hit 80mph and it was smooth. Got all the way up to 105mph and still smooth. I’m loving this new unit!! I have just emailed Driveshaft Shop with my testing results and how they failed me on the aluminum one even after I shipped it on my dollar and still got a defective unit back. We will see if they decide to refund me on a bad unit. 2 things I like about the Carbon Fiber driveshaft: 1. It’s smaller in diameter and clears the brake lines if you have off-set differential bushings. I still took the heat shield off and used the DEI heat shield instead. 2. It delivers a smooth drive!

Do you have a link to the hear shield you used? Glad to hear it's working correctly. I really hope my Shaft doesn't have any issues. I doubt DSS will do much for you but hopefully I am wrong.

I just modified the heat shield on mine to add some clearance at the top. Interested to learn more about the DEI heat shield as well.

Ashen was yours close? Was it because bof ZL1 rear? I haven't added offset bushings yet.

I had a few minor scratches where it was touching. Pretty sure its the result of the offset diff bushings and hard launches.

https://www.designengineering.com/fl...ld-ii-21-x-48/ I first used paper (I had a large roll of brown paper masking from a paint job) to cutout templates and then put it on top of the shield and cut from there. The prep work and template making is tedious, but done right will ensure the heat shield sticks well and fits. Here is a picture of my tunnel with all heat shields replaced by the DEI adhesive hear shield.

I am not under the car right now so I am not picturing everything the heat shield is protecting, Is it just the E Brake cables and the floor/tunnel? Or are there fuel lines and tank as well? I am assuming that the shaft probably will be okay with Reg SS Diff and bushings? Nice work on fitting the shielding. Attention to detail makes all the difference.

I've yet to ride in a 5th Gen with a 1 piece aluminum DS that didn't have some vibration.

I hope not, otherwise I'd have gone with CF.
