New car/New member
I'm a new member and soon to be a new Camaro owner. I just orderd a 2SS/RS in Cyber Grey Metalic with orange stripes, orange seats and interior trim package. I'm now wondering if I should delete the factory stripes and do some sort of a custom stripe but still in the orange?? I have seen some coments on here that people have wished they did something other than factory and I've seen some nice looking custom stipes like the Indy Pace car. Any comments would be appreciated.
Great site by the way!! |

If you can afford it painted is the way to go in my opinion.
As far as the style goes, sometimes simpler is better. I went with a painted stripe but went with the stock rally stripe footprint which I prefer the most. Congrats on your new purchase and please keep us updated.

WELCOME !!
While painted stripes are nicer looking in my mind I do like the vinyl better from the stand point of tweaking it to find the look you want then you can paint it if you wish.
i have changed my mind at least a dozen times about what I think this car should have on it. Good luck and welcome to C-5 ! |

Paint 'em. They look better and last longer, imho. Although, it does cost more.
Oh yeah, congratulations and welcome to the forums. Make sure you post some pictures when you get your car, or, I warn you now, you will see this: |

Welcome & Congrats. As others stated, if you can afford painted stripes then you would be more satisfied with them painted over the factory vinyls IMO.

So if I stick with the factory vinyl for now will they peel off easy enough to do something different in the future?

I would just go painted out of the box. Otherwise you're paying the money for the vinyls AND the painted stripes in the future. Plus, if you wax the car some of the residue will build up where the vinyl meets the paint. And, the vinyl is always prone to bubbling, scratching, etc... You won't be disappointed if you get painted stripes.

Hi! Welcome to the site and the wait
Yes, you can always peel them off - not that bad. I agree with the painting as the vinyl doesn't cut it. Also, as you see more cars, you can get other ideas of a custom job. Just peeled off some side stripes from my car and replaced the hood & hood spears with IOM painted spears! MUCH better! Congrats on the order! Cool color combo!

Thanks for all the input... I think I'll cancel the factory stripes and go with some paint in the future. Now all I need to do is find a good paint shop here in the Vermont area.

The only problem I see with painted stripes is, you're pretty much stuck with them. You can always peel the vinyl ones off if you see or think of something else you like. But I would agree with the idea of painted looking better. I love how mine looks and they're vinyl.
