Launch Control

Sorry if this is posted elsewhere but I confused on if there is or isn't Launch Control on the 1LE. I've been told no and I've seen if you put the car in track and so on. How does it work, if it even has it at all? Thanks!

Yes, it has it. I haven't used it yet so other than saying yes, I can't be of much help, but someone will chime in with details. Also, it's in the manual. You can create a mychevy account with your VIN and then download and search an electronic copy.

A Launch Control feature is
available, within Competitive Driving
Mode, to allow the driver to achieve
high levels of vehicle acceleration in
a straight line. Launch Control is a
form of traction control that
manages tire spin while launching
the vehicle. This feature is intended
for use during closed course race
events where consistent zero to
sixty and quarter mile times are
desirable.
Launch Control is only available
when the following criteria are met:
. Competitive Driving Mode is
selected.
. The vehicle is not moving.
. The steering wheel is pointing
straight.
Manual Transmissions
. The clutch is pressed and the
vehicle is in 1 (First) gear.
. The accelerator pedal is rapidly
applied to wide open throttle.
The Launch Control feature will
initially limit engine speed as the
driver rapidly applies the accelerator
pedal to wide open throttle. Allow
the engine rpm to stabilize.
A smooth, quick release of the
clutch, while maintaining the fully
pressed accelerator pedal, will
manage wheel slip. Complete shifts
are described in Manual
Transmission 0 229.

Put it in track mode. Double tap the traction control button, select sport 1 or 2, or track again in the ptm menu. Make sure car is not moving, steering wheel is straight. Fully depress clutch while in 1st gear, stomp gas down to wot and hold. Rpms will even out at 3500ish rpms. When you're ready, release the clutch in a quick smooth motion, don't just drop it. I used it at LS fest at the drags and for the 3S challenge. It works pretty good, although I felt I was able to launch harder without it.

Launch Control

On my car RPM seems to hover at 5000 while doing launch control. I have seen it posted here and other sites listed anywhere from 3500 - 4500. My settings are OEM so wondering if RPMs of 5000 is correct.

Haven't tried launch control so i can't say where mine is but don't know if I would want to launch at 5000. I know our half shafts are beefed up but you definitely would not want to dump the clutch at that rpm but let it out smooth and good luck with excessive tire spin.

Launch control holds the gas for you, mine is 4500rpm you still need to have a smooth quick release of the clutch to be effective. If you " dump" the clutch or " side step the clutch" it will either spin tires too much and cut the power or it will go sideways either way no good. Seen people on you tube dumping the clutch at the track the car bogs bad to avoid blowing the tires off! Then they wonder why their sixty foot time sucks. Which equates to slow quarter mile elapsed time

If you put it in PTM, Race, it goes to 3500. everything else its 5k and basically just helps you lay nasty burnouts.

Launch control not that good with street/oem tires. With radials it would be better. Better to self launch around 2k with street/oem tires.

If your car is revving to 5k that is just the soft limiter in neutral, not launch control. LC holds the revs at 3500. You can get to it by either being in sport mode and pressing the traction button twice to engage competitive driving mode, or be in track mode and do the same thing, then switch to sport 1, 2 or race.

Launch control works pretty well on the street with the stock 1LE goodyears, not as well at a drag strip because it tends to wheel hop.

Pretty sure all the LC modes are 3500. But launch control can't be accessed from Touring mode. Only Sport mode w/ Competitive Driving traction mode on or in the PTM modes.

hmm, maybe i have something else on then. Last time i used Launch control, it would cut power to the wheels to not spin tired at all.

I had competitive mode on, maybe launch control better in PTM modes?

Try letting the clutch out slower. If you dump it you get a bog..
