But the Viper is built for performance first and only performance. The Lancer was a pos ugly econo box with shit interior to which they mashed awd and a turbo. Same thing with the older wrx. They were fun to drive, but besides performance they were junk.

To sacrifice everything comfortable, your car has to have it in the first place.

Can you imagine an awd turbo corolla? sentra? Id bet you would get very similar performance numbers out of those cars too, only difference is they are a slightly less junk box then the lancer was. But just as ugly though.

This was the first import Ive ever actually considered buying, but I couldnt justify the cars price with less power and worse gas milage. Still a great car though.
Some of the best rallycars in history were exactly that.
sOOb 22b

Delta Integrale

Corolla AWD (Available overseas.)

Ford Focus RS

Escort RS

And there are tons more. Just here in N.A. it doesnt have a big following. I have drive the Lancia Deltas alot and let me tell you its the most awesome lil AWD turbo econobox ever made. AWD+Turbo+Cheap+light= epic win.

It is inevitable, every V8 RWD type message board has a few people who will discredit, hate, and loath the Evo STi, and similar cars.
And on every "tuner" board you will see a few who think V8s are a huge waste of money and bloated POS, and wont even give a 12, 11, or even high 10 second car in stock form any credit for being a good car.

Reality hasn't set in for either group if you ask me....

There are races that each car is tailored to.
Road racing, Rally racing, Auto cross an Evo or STi has the edge
1/4 mile, 1/8th mile, or street drag racing most of the RWD V8s have the edge.

Sure both can be modified in both categories, but lets face it- Whoever has the most time and money to modify their car will win.

Fun stuff....

Did the old one really weigh just 2900 lbs? Can that be right??
2900 lbs= Evo RS.
Stripped out model...no a/c, radio, recaro seats, etc...

No Evo sold in the US was/is 2900lbs (2003-2010)
The RS were more like +/- 3200 lbs about 60-70 lbs less than the "GSR"
The RS still had A/C , Recaros no Radio/speakers (but is wired for it) , no wing and roll up windows . .

Sources must be bogus. sorry. lol
Funny they just left the wiring in there.
EDIT: I also didnt realize they put the A/C on all production RS. The test mules had no A/C.

I love both rally and muscle equally. Have had both and respect they are two different animals.

No I didn't Follow me for a second here. In every tangible way a 2011 911 Turbo is a better car than1970 Ferrari Daytona. The 911 is faster, handles better, is more comfortable, gets better fuel economy....you name it and in every way the 911 does it's job better and as such the 911 is a better car. So, if you slapped a prancing horse on that 911 Turbo would the 911 then also be a better Ferrari than the Daytona since it's a better car?

Of course not. The problem here being that, while a 911 Turbo is a phenomenal car it's Porsche and would make a horrible Ferrari.....the character is completely different. Same goes for the Evo X...it's a great car.....but it doesn't fit the character of what has traditionally made an Evo an Evo.
