If it works for you then fine. Just remember...something happens to it because of your driving...and warranty fails to cover it due to driver irresponsibility...dont fight and be angry as to why its not covered...you drove it like that...

Also...if you are being lazy and not using your clutch...why not have just boughten an L99 and use the slap paddles?

All semi trucks have transmissions without syncros. Your only supposed to need the clutch to start from a stop, after that you can shift all day without it. As long as the engine and transmission speeds are close it will slip right in.

I like using the clutch. It's the closest I get to exercising nowadays.

Now that's funny! Hahaha. I only do it to save a little clutching now and then and really it makes for a very smooth shift!

OK to each their own... But learning to drive the 3 on the tree as a kid, my Dad would have backhanded me out the window...

Guys! Use the Clutch!

I train drivers for a major trucking company. We absolutely do not let them float gears! It might feel like its falling in smoothly, but each time it shaves off just a little bit of metal. You can tell when a transmission has been floated all its life because its sloppy. You can bet the manufacturer recomends that you use the clutch. Just my 2cent. Hope this helps those who had questions. Whatever you choose to do, enjoy your ride!

synchromesh is purely and simply a driving aid-it was invented to take the skill out of driving so that it would be available to the masses.

Synchromesh is effectively like a cluth on each set of gears, so as you engage a gear it ensures the speeds of all the gearbox shafts are equal.

If you match the speeds, your doing the job of the synchromesh

I float my gears in my semi but use the clutch in the camaro. Sounds like we have a few truckers driving the 2010 camaro.

Your right, new drivers should not float gears. I have been a diesel technician for many years and have gotten to know many customers and drivers. I have seen quite a few trucks over the years get well over 1,000,000 miles on the original clutch. Just remember, the release bearing only has so many cycles, the more you press the pedal the shorter the life becomes!
