Yeah, that seemed pretty harmless. The sensor obviously thought there was some sort of side impact or imminent rollover though.

I'm not sure they advertise the ZL1 as a track car, without the 1LE package anyway. I doubt the sensor calibrations are any different between the two.

Hopefully they take care of you, even if it's just a "goodwill gesture".

Link is NOT for actual sensor, but you get the idea.

Probably a good thing, eliminate the middle-man (GM). They might check all the data to determine if the sensors were correctly calibrated. If you had one that had a hair trigger, then ya, pre-mature air-bag deployment.

..but finding that out, showing you the data, and paying up are unlikely to happen.
Huh, that's interesting. Good find.

I guess this is the normal process? Seems weird that they have to hire a 3rd party to inspect the car when it's at the dealer. In any event, seems like this might take a while to resolve.

I'd say there's a chance they might take care of it for you. The Raytheon inspection might be a good thing, as far as you're concerned. They could have told you over the phone, sorry, it's not our fault, but they didn't. You volunteering your video was a nice good-will gesture. If you can, let us know what the inspection is all about and what they say. Maybe they want to take a close look at the suspension for any damage....who knows...Good luck, again.

For sure GM (or anyone else) does not want airbags deploying unless they have to/are supposed to. If anything GM should send you a fruit basket for the data. If they are calling you and looking into it - that's excellent.

Heard back from them today. They said the airbags deployed as intended and they're not going to help cover anything. Disappointing, but not unexpected.

I'm waiting on an estimate to repair, then I'll decide between repairing, throwing in a race seat, harness, roll bar, or driving it into the showroom and lighting it on fire.

I am having seats, cage, harnesses in as we speak. The entire Airbag system is deactivated. I based this, in part, on your video.
