And I still have the hood insulation in still on mine (as I see you removed yours)
I ordered a Katech TB this morning to replace my Soler Performance 95mm TB (another item to sell), and the car needs to come back to the shop after the break in period for a dyno tune (will have a base tune to get by ATM) and at that point I will order a new belt (to get rid of that green belt....lol)

I bolted after that part of the install from the shop, as they were going to start on the meth injection set up, and buttoning down other loose ends. They need to get power back to the car, so they can drain my tank to install the DSX aux kit too. Overall, the build is moving along, so no big issues yet.
First off, my hood insulation removed itself when I broke my blower belt last fall LMAO. I was leaning towards getting a new one.

Without the spacers, if you launch the car hard, I wonder if the blower could hit the cowl…? Does the lid have any clearance to the cowl? Hurry up and test your car on the street for me!

You could be 100% right on this… Doesn’t the ZL1 have a bit less hood clearance than the SS? Wonder if maybe that’s where the spacers are needed (in addition to C7 Vette)?

Yep that's right the ZL1 has less clearance due to the hood and you have to trim it for even the 2.9.

Josh.... lol.. I will keep you posted on the hood clearance issue once my car is finished... hopefully by the end of next week. However, I won't be launching my car anytime soon or ever as it is a fun street car and will never see the strip/track. (Plus on a basic tune for break in period, I am sure they will set the rev limiters pretty low) You do bring up a great point, as I am sure you will be launching your car pretty hard to get in the 8's right?

I have broke enough s**t over the years with bikes and boats... and all those crazy hobbies takes alot of cash to maintain and fix. So I will sit on the sidelines for you guys with the 1000hp cars and watch you tear stuff up this time around

No worries I totally hear you. Thanks for the heads up on the cradle deal…at least I will check it out carefully instead of blindly doing the cradle spacing.

When you get a chance will you take a closer look (and maybe a pic) of your cowl to blower clearance?

Is it possible that the hood is an issue with either '16 - '18 or '19 & up, but not both? The hoods are slightly different after all.

I guess we’re going to find out…

I would think the 16-18 hoods have the most clearance since they don't have the heat extractor in the middle of the hood.

I need to go back to the shop soon and see the clearance when the hood is shut again. Not sure how to measure or take pic of that clearance? (any ideas Josh) but I know the hood shuts. The lid sits behind the heat extractor vent in the middle of the hood if I am not mistaken on my '22...

Use a wad of playdough or a loosely wadded ball of aluminum foil or something else crushable to measure clearance.

Josh wanted a pic of the clearance... was going to use tape, but aluminum foil is a good idea too.... not many of us do not have playdough laying around if we don't have young kiddos... lol

If the hood shuts, then that’s fine. I was more curious about clearance to the windshield cowl… which you can obviously measure and photograph with the hood up.

Gents,

I throw the blower back on my car and took some pictures with playdough (yes I have some at home, my gf is a teacher).

I also took some measurements using a micrometer as shown. This is on my 2018 SS with the stock hood (including the felt protector underneath) as well as the cradle lowering spacers as I posted pictures of before.

Long story short, she appears to be a tight squeeze. I had spoken to Grant at TooHighPsi a while back and he mentioned that even their low profile plates are 8/10ths of an inch thick. Looks like machining the intake runners is the way to go unless I'm missing something.

Hope this helps.
