QTP cutouts problem - Help

After going WOT with the cutouts closed I noticed a slight leak on both sides. I tried closing them with the fob and nothing, no sound at all even the over wind sound if you hold the close button too long. They worked fine when I last used them a month ago. The fob battery is brand new. I didn’t try opening them for concern that they wouldn’t close at all.

They were installed 9yrs ago by QTP when they were in NJ and the only problem I
had is one motor had to be replaced about 5yrs ago. Any thoughts on what the problem could be? Thanks

The slide/gate probably needs lubing

I was thinking of that but it would require them to be open which I’m reluctant to try as they may not close even a little. If they did open by using the fob but then didn’t close I guess I could try to force them shut by pressing on the butterfly with something heavy like the tip of a crow bar?
Thoughts

I kinda had a problem like this a couple years ago after installing mine. When I went to open them, only one side would open, then I closed it. Then the next time I tried them the OTHER side would open that didn't open before. Then the next time they both would not open at all. Put the car up on the lift and checked the connections from the motors to the power wire going to the inside of the car and found that the connectors even with the twist lock ring, had came loose and lost power. We re attached them and shrink wrapped them and it never happened again. And as for lubing them, you can do it while the are closed since you say you have a leak and they seem like they are not closed all the way. Squirt some WD40 or PB Blaster all around the butterfly and the shaft area. It will get to where it needs to. Also when you do get them open, clean the lip on the inside of the opening where the butterfly sits against when totally closed. Hope this helps!

Those wires are easy to melt too, so look for where the insulation might have melted and be grounding. If you have the controller, it will be showing an error if it's grounding. I replaced the twist locks on mine for two wire plugs and used silicone over fiberglass sleeving to prevent melting.

All good info in the above replies. Thanks guys much appreciated! I’m thinking it’s more an electrical than mechanical issue as it happened all at once to both sides AND that there is no motor noise on either side when I press the close button. I really don’t know what to do as like I said QTP installed them when they were near me in NJ so I don’t know what to look for besides not having a way to lift the car to get under it and I don’t know where I could take it for someone else to look at. On the positive side the leak isn’t too loud so it sounds pretty good and there isn’t any noticeable smell.

Thank You! It’ll be awhile before I can get it on a lift to check things out and even then I won’t know what I’m looking at

Good News …I decided to try and open them and they both opened with the fob and closed to their slight leak position but they still didn’t make the overwind noise when you hold the close button too long hmmm. So the problem must be a piece of carbon got thrown in both of them when I went WOT with them closed causing them to not quite close completely but enough to stop their motor’s from overwinding.

First chance I get I’ve got just enough room to crawl under each side without needing to jack the car to be able to to spray them with PB Blaster and scrap them with a small metal bristle brush. I’ll post an update when I do.

You will always hear a small leak. I have a brand new set and I always hear the leaking.

AWESOME!! Good to hear. With my Camaro being so low and just can't use any ramps to raise her up any, to lube mine I just lay on my back and reach my arm under there and spray the heck out of the butterfly and the sides where the shaft rotates. Gets it done. And as for them leaking, I have had them for about 3-4 years now, and knock on wood they still don't leak.
