I went from a 13 1SS/1LE to my 18 V6 Hotwheels edition...the only thing I really miss is the sound of that V8 NPP. My V6 has the NPP and sounds good but will never sound as good as the V8.

Fuel prices is a bad reason to get the 4 banger.... It requires premium... The V8 can at least be driven on premium, lol.
The V6 is a good in between... Just don't expect to win much races, depending on where you live, lol. Sent from my SM-G930W8 using Tapatalk |

Unfortunately in Cali, the saying "my v6 is faster then most cars on the street" doesn't really work with all the Teslas and v8s flying around.
But I didn't get my ss because of other cars on the road. I got it for the sound, power, and handling on the twistys. Handing stock 5.0s their ass is just a bonus. |

I had a 5th Gen Camaro SS, traded it in for a 6th Gen RS with V6, 8 speed automatic. I'd still have it if it were not for the A8 issues. My rationale is 335 HP, 0-60 in 5 or so seconds, great handling, lighter than a V8 car, regular gas and great gas mileage. I averaged 27 MPG and saw over 30 easy on trips. The shuddering got to me and I traded in the car for a Mustang GT. I wanted a Camaro V6 but too pricey, cars did not drive that good and dealers would not give deals. So I do like the GT with the V8 better than the V6 now that I have it. But I also run it on regular gas- it does not require premium like the Camaro SS does. And it's almost as good as the Camaro V6 was on gas- I average 25.8- and I got it for only 30K.

If you're averaging 25.8 in a GT, either your computer is being way optimistic or your driving it like a senior citizen with leg atrophy.

Driving the V8 Camaros...takes discipline and restraint Grasshoppa. In the end you will be rewarded on a flat out 5 mile empty road as the sun sets in your rearview mirror. Only then you shalt be enlightened.

I had a v6.. upgraded to a v8. I'm so glad I did. I tried to convince myself that the v6 was a better idea. That lasted a few years until I wised up and bought the car I should have. People talk bad about the v8s gas mileage, but with the 8/4 switching, I get just as good, if not better than my v6 got as I drive 75 miles at minimum a day.

I had a V8 2002 Z28 with a 6-speed manual. Now I have a 2017 lgx V6 Camaro with the 6-speed manual and the dual-mode exhaust. I can honestly say there's no downside to owning the V6 it pulls hard it sounds awesome and it's good on gas.
This V6 is much different than any previous V6 in the Camaro due to the lightness of the car. The only way you can make a fair decision would be to drive one you can't base it off of anything else |

Couldn't do a V6 and one thing I never hear many folks talk about is just cruising in the V8. I live in a very hilly area and the low down torque of the V8 climbing the hills is something I really enjoy. Having a Diesel Silverado the SS seems to pull up hills while only lightfooting it just like the Silverado. The Silverado has 925 ft-lbs of torque and weighs about 8000 lbs. The SS is what 450 ft-lbs of torque and weighs 3700 lbs so they do feel alike. Big difference though when you really hit the SS!!!

If you already have a V8, there's not huge fuel savings to be had by going to a V6. The depreciation, buying/selling, possible sale tax hits make it better to stick with what you have.
Comparing "best" fuel economy numbers makes no sense. They probably aren't representative of the cost of operation of the vehicle. I actually prefer the sound of the V6 in say the last 1000rpm before redline. I've driven all of the engine variants and they're all fun. |

This all depends on your experience and where you're coming from. I owned a 13 Camaro SS/RS, then a C7, and I was done with having all that power and just using it for a DD. I bought the 6th gen v-6 and was very Satisfied.

Look at my current garage lol. I tried the sensible car thing (2017 Accord V6 touring sedan) for a few months and was miserable. The car was a boat load of fun but nothing like a V8 so for me downgrading to a 6 ( unless M4, gtr, 911) is not an option.
