ZL1 question front brakes the same as SS 1LE?
ZL1 question front brakes the same as SS 1LE?
I had a ZL1 owner ask me about my front skinnies on my 1LE 6 piston brakes. The skinnies are 17 inch 4.5 and clear my 6 piston brakes. The pic with tire comparison is the front 285 vrs the 4.5. Crazy you guys have the 305 on the front I think.

From what I understand, the overall diameter of the rotor/caliper setup is the same with SS 1LE and ZL1. But the rotor thickness is different. This is why you cannot buy replacement ss 1LE rotors and use them on the ZL1.

I'm pretty sure the rotor diameter is slightly larger on the ZL1

All ZL1’s (including ZLE) have 390mm front rotors. SS 1LE’s have 370mm front rotors.

It’s not just overall diameter. The swept area of the ZL1 brake rotors is very large, which is why they are so effective!
