If you say so dude. I can tell pretty quick if it's a regular toolbar in a GT or a douche bag drivin a GT500. Biggest difference is the fact that most GT500s aren't gonna have a kid behind the wheel. That's pretty much an accomplished persons car. You know, someone that has money. There are exceptions to this rule sure, but just like corvettes, most are owned by people over 40. Next thing to look for is the wing and the bump up in the hood for the louvers. That's a dead giveaway.

Btw, I've owned mustangs so this is usually very easy for me to distinguish.

I was stopped at a red light when a guy pulls up in one of those 5.0 mustangs that were so popular in the late 80's and starts revving his engine. so just to humor him, I rev that massive 80 or so HP I4 of my escort. light turns green and he hauls ass while I make my usual 90 second 0-60 start. he gets about half a mile down the road and I see what looks like a flame shoot out one or both of his tail pipes and he comes to a complete stop. I then gave him two quick honks of the horn as I blew by him at about 45mph.
Hahaha! That's karma catching up to him! Mustang backfired really bad or something!
It's odd Ford does those 1/2 years, like with the 1964 1/2 mustangs. I never knew they did it on another car.

No problem at all dude. It's just you see the dude who did it after you. He clearly does it for a-hole reasons.

Plus, I felt pretty safe I'd never get hate from another 45th owner.

Haha well I sure don't remember seeing a wing as he pulled out almost smashing into that poor car trying to turn. Too busy laughing my ass off!

Oh and yeah and it was the stock hood as best I could tell. I can certainly tell a GT500 from the front grille area, couldn't see that lined up of course.

Also, glad you made the switch.

Not that I dislike mustangs. As stated, I've got a couple, it'd be kinda hypocritical... haha

And I see your point on where to post this. I posted this thread here mainly because of what happened, not because it was a mustang. Like I said, it coulda been any other car. Just an idiot in the car.

I wondered the same about Ace.

And It's not my fault some idiot badged his car something it was not.

I know more that most about mustangs, thank you very much. I thought I was getting a mustang before I got my camaro. And I've been a member of mustangfroums.com since April 2010. I've got a '67 and '68 mustang back at home.

Now please, don't doubt my ability to properly identify a mustang.

If the car was parked in a parking lot I would tell the difference. 7:30 at night, in the dark, lined up next to me, I made the best of the few glances I took. I didn't want to dignify the toolbag by looking his car up and down. Seems like the guy had enough ego issues.
I wasn't suggesting that you should post this in the General Automotive section or the Off-Topic sections because it had a Mustang in it, like you said it could be any car...but unless it is directly and strongly related to a Camaro (Not just happened while driving a Camaro) then people might attack you for it. Not being a h/a about it but just saying, to get the dogs off your back.

If you want to tell an Auto from a Manual you can watch a car at the stop lights, when the light turns green if the car rolls back a little bit before taking off - chances are it is a manual. If it is on an incline or decline it might not be a good test. If driving, a manual car tends to burn rubber or slip around a little when you are doing a gear change, so that is a sign of manual transmission, automatic is usually seamless - unless modified.

I hate my Mustang because, well it is a lemon dancer. It is problematic enough to aggravate, but yet it is good enough to be 'operational'. It has had some (serious) annoying problems from the beginning, plus I get a/h comments on it all the time. I am debating whether or not hate is too strong of a word. I mean, I love the way it looks. But, it's a 3.7. It doesn't go when I want it to! That's about all I want to say about my Mustang, as again this is not a Mustang forum nor is this a Mustang thread. Not the correct place. Sorry. Don't want to be seen as a troll.

And he could not have told the difference between the GT and the GT500 since it was at night and the car was most likely mis-badged or 'dressed up'.

*Back to Photoshop, I have a big project that I am working on, you guys will see it soon*

Yeah, mustangs might be the fastest out there but they don't hang together. End of story.

Yeah I know you weren't suggesting, just giving possible reasons for the useless posts. No problem.

That's why I think it's auto as well, he took off with little wheelspin and there wasn't any as he kept going. I drive an LS3, so I know what it's like to be driving a manual. And on the roads I make sure I don't pull right up to people's bumpers on a hill. I hate it when people do that to me!

Sorry to hear about the problems. Every once in a while someone gets a lemon. Sucks to hear it was you. :(

Totally agree with you there. Performance from factory, the 5.0 wins. However, the mustangs and mustang clubs don't seem very unified.

At a local car meet we have in Atlanta called Caffeine and Octane the mustangs show up and group sporadically, even the same generation mustangs aren't organized. The same day every single 5th generation camaro parked in the same section side by side. Even camaros that weren't part of our club.

That doesn't go to say there's no mustang clubs though, I know there's plenty.

Sorry to hear your trans kept you from the 5.0. I heard those were a problem, but I though it was the automatic transmission? I guess I'm mixing things up in my head, haha.

Yep, I drive an auto transmission car but I feel bad for the manual guys when someone smells their rear end at a stop light. I try to give the manual's a bit of room, to be nice. I don't do it all the time though, usually if it's a nice car - lol.

Yeah, but that doesn't make it any better. Maybe if it had a 5.0 in it I wouldn't mind so much. A manual transmission wouldn't hurt either. IDK though. Let's not get into that entire little subject.

You are right, most Mustang club's are not very 'together' it seems. They attack their own VERY easily. It was cool to see all the Camaro's parking next to each other at Car's and Coffee today, the driver's didn't even seem to know each other. They just parked together, met each other later. I parked next to a line of Mustang's and I was just stared at menacingly. lol

The 5.0 has been plagued with transmission problems from the very beginning, although they typically come up in the manual transmission cars.

cool story... had nearly same event here, driving on highway. here in saudi the speed limit is 120 km/h, and a lot of radar cars around. i slowly know where they hide, so i know when to brake. one day i drive on highway, then a gt500, driven from a young idiot, came from behind and take lane besides me. i know approx 1 km away they will stand and take pics, and the crazy guy just hit the pedal fully to the floor. i did him the favor, speeded a bit with him, but immy hit the brakes. he continue flying on the highway on full throttle and got a nice picture from him. so i slowly passed the radar trap, and surprise was that behind next turn police closed the highway and was waiting for all speeders... so i slowly passed, smiled at him and wished him good luck. seems its really a problem once you get into a ford...
