Hey, whatever makes them sleep better at night. It does bother me that he flat out lied about 1) GM buying the Camaro's role 2) Bumblebee's engine (he "built" the car, he should know) and 3) What it was he actually did. Regardless, I say let them have their delusions for a few more years, then shatter them on the race track.

In my opinion, Steve Saleen suffers from a classic case of "Sour Grapes" and "Small Man Syndrome". Oh Well, let's move on , shall we?

hold on, I'm confused with Saleen's comments. I'm just thinking in terms of the movie itself...the original bumblebee was a 2nd Gen Camaro...now I'm just wondering if he expected us to believe that the 2nd Gen would somehow transform into a Saleen mustang (instead of into the 5th gen)? That makes absolutely no sense...what a crap movie that would have been.
edit: nvmd, i just realized the first real original bumblebee was a vw beetle. I'm 23 so the original transformers were a little before my time. Last edited by Mike88; 11-21-2007 at 11:40 PM. |

IMO the Camaro didn't get much of a starring role. Saleen says that the Camaro was the "Hero", but it got captured by a bunch of lame federal officials, and towed out of the biggest fight scene at the end.
Hmm, maybe it was just because he belonged to the boy.... |

I was kind of waiting for Ford (or someone linked to them) to pull something like this. Sounds to me like Steve-O jut found out that he won't be building any Camaros for GM...or he would have never opened his trap.

Saleen mustangs my ass. I used to love the S7... and thought if I every make it big i'll get one.... now I'll make a donation to his competitors!!!!
While attending my nephew's graduation in Cranberry Twp. PA they had a Saleen mustang for raffle at the fire department Sticker price was $47,000 plus. horse power 330... I made a fireman mad when I told them I wouldn't buy a ticket because I wouldn't want it even if I won. It's just ANOTHER mustang. I'll email saleen thanks for the link I'll also not buy anything that says saleen on it for anything I ever own.

Well, actually, the original Bumblebee was a Volkswagen Beetle... but seeing as this version of Transformers was majorly Americanized (not accusing, just saying...) a german hero wouldn't make much sense. If Saleen actually DID sponsor the show enough to get a Saleen bumblebee, I imagine they would have used a 2nd gen mustang as the old bumblebee.
That said, I like Bb as a Camaro, tyvm. Edit: Additionally, all of the autobots were sponsored by GM. Snazzy cars like the Hummer, Solstice, etc. I'd like to see what interesting vehicles Ford would have used... F350... umm... Fusion? Escape? Wow. Maybe a Focus. |

^A Focus Transformer?!?! That would have given me serious reservations about the movie, I hate that car.
