Yet people keep voting for them. Weird.

No, they actually work, I've seen them myself.

PA, NJ, MA probably won't be far behind. I know PA was talking about it a couple months ago, but nothing mandated. Whole Northeast is a shithole, can't wait to GTFO.

What many used to say to me is Murphy was simply a delayed version of Cuomo, whatever came down on the Hudson, he would just do and then some.

Case in point…the original California ZEV Mandate stated that by 2003, 10% of cars sold in California had to be zero emissions. In Q1 2021, 18 years after the timing for the original “mandate” the number of zero emissions cars sold in California just eked past 10% for the very first time (thanks Tesla). So either the original mandate was NOT a law, or the law has been broken every year for the past 18 years. It was not a law. But it led to actual law that was a lot more realistic and achievable. History is repeating. California and New York are not alone. Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Washington, Oregon, and Hawaii also have set 2035 as a target year to ban sales of new vehicles with ICE. That’s about 1/5 of the US by state count and closer to 1/3 of annual new vehicles sales. And more are coming. This is a chart I'll be using at a panel discussion I'll be speaking at at Motor Bella.

Everyone is freaking out about these EV only / ICE sale bans.
That's not the problem for enthusiasts. ICE vehicles will be around for most of our lives. The problem is going to be fuel. When the demand goes down, economies of scale are lost and gas will become prohibitively expensive. |

Revised - I would say likely. Getting past the safety, technological feasibility, and I think particularly cost-effectiveness hurdles aren't things that can be commanded to happen on any schedule. Norm
