Borla Exhaust too loud!

Good Afternoon. Looking for some advice for those who have modified aftermarket exhaust system. I just installed the Borla S-Type and it is too loud for me. I do have long tubes and will be installing converters back into the system, hoping to remove the loud rasp. I would love to install either a small x pipe resonator or 2 single resonators just past the x pipe. Anyone have any info they could share? Thanks for your time!

I added 2 Solo bullet resonators just past the x pipe and they worked great.

I kind of have a similar concern. I dont have an aftermarket exhaust, but I did remove the cats. I like the sound but it is a bit raspy and I get a pop/crackle when I let off throttle sometimes. I think the pop/crackle is just the nature of these blown cars because my buddy has same setup with a borla exhaust and it does same thing (maybe not as much).

Did resonators help with the rasp as well as crackle/pop/ backfire?

For all that think these cars are to loud, a Toyota Prius might be your answer.... next we are gonna have people saying they are to fast. Come on now go big or go home!!! Hahaha.

I have TSP Lontube with x pipe, all the way to the axle, connected to stock NPP. I put the fuse back in, and I'm very happy with the sound.

There is a brutal drone with the fuse pulled at certain cruising RPM, putting the fuse back in knocks that out and it's pleasantly quiet - until you get on it, then it's a bit insane.

I like the sound without the fuse, in the rpm ranges where it wasn't droning. That could be fixed by ... some exhaust I just don't know which one. Perhaps the TSP exhaust to finish it off. Not worth the cost at this point since I'm happy enough and kind of like the jekyl and hyde nature of it now.

Toyota...

OP, if you're putting cats back onto the system, that'll quiet it down immediately. When I installed the exhaust on my SS, removing the stock cats really made the car growl. They are ultimately the choke point and putting them back on will help you out.

Tossing a set of cats on will clean up most of the rasp and popping. Start there, it might be perfect for you afterwards. IF that doesn't work a set of Solo resonators are a great option. They clean up the sound and tone it down a bit too. If you need a set give us a call or pm us.

I had to buy a 2nd stock exhaust to keep under the sound limits ... running 2 dynomax bullet mufflers where the ORPs would go, magnaflow mufflered xpipe, and the stock mufflers...

Sound limits at a race track is a thunbs down!

Now now, while I completely agree with you that california political climate is dog shit, the state is gorgeous and im lucky enough to be withing two hours of Laguna Seca, Sonoma, and Thunderhill, 5-6hr to Buttonwillow and Auto Club.

If there are no other tracks in the United States that have sound limits then I will give you a a nuetral thumb

I don't have to drive around with a obnoxiously loud exhaust in order for others think I am really cool. I prefer to have a quiet sleeper exhaust.

I was just talking about db limits on the tracks, not the politics (although I'm pretty sure the two are related). I think the tracks out there have the lowest limits from what I've heard. Road Atlanta, AMP, Road America range from 98-103db, I believe. Aren't the tracks in CA around 90-92db?

90 at laguna seca, 103 at sonoma and thunder hill

My car hits 107-110 at WoT with LTs ORP and stock exhaust with flaps open.

I was under 103 with a Magnaflow Muffled Y pipe and closed valves but didnt like the sound driving around town ... put a regulat xpipe on.

2nd cat back will be ultra quiet, maybe i can go up the hill at Laguna without lifting or being in 5th
