Trickle Charge

Can I hook up my trickle charge under the hood or do I have to go to the battery?

I use a float charger. It pulses a charge intermittently, as needed to keep battery fully charged.

Can I hook the positive to (+) post under the hood and then just place the ground on any ground under the hood? I can't get to the negative post due to the ice box that's been added.

Should work fine, that's what I do.

Would work either way I currently have a trickle charger hooked up permanently to my battery. I tuck it underneath the carpet in back when not in use.

I use the positive post under the hood along with the ground stud, I have done that every year since I got it in 2012

Can you guys post some pics of your set ups.

Need to add a Trickle charger and not sure if going through the rear truck area with the battery or just leave the hood pooped open in front is the way to go...

Any suggestions on which charger to buy? I'm guessing they all work the same?

I use a Battery Tender Jr. and hook it up under the hood. Works great.

you want a battery tender, not a trickle charger. I use this one, its phenomenal. It automatically determines when it needs to be charging or maintaining the battery. It charges the battery to full and then maintains it at that level. Also has a start/jump feature for extra amperage.

Here's all you need to maintain your battery. You won't be able to charge a dead one though, you'll need a charger for that.
