Saw my first live 2014 rally striped SS 'vert.

I've seen 2014 SS's on the lots. I've seen rally striped ones in pics. Today, I saw a SW SS/RS 'vert and it had black rally stripes. An older gentleman (around 70-ish) was driving it.

Now I really like the factory rally stripe design on the 5th gens, but there's just SOMETHING about that cener vent being black as well really messed that up. It clashed and didn't flow at all. Sorry, didn't like it.

If'n it were me, I'd pull those vinyl stripes off, and paint them on, and include the hood vent in the rally stripe design (white center between the painted stripes) and make it look uniform.

Car looked great otherwise.

you can get the vent painted body color... I think it looks much better with the stripes... after looking and finding no examples maybe I haven't seen it... but it's supposed to be available.

full length indy stripes look cool!

Poster says he has a '13 so that isn't his car. He gave his opinion and I gave mine. People have to grow thicker skins and stop being so PC.

Not many but I wanted mine to look more like a 1st Gen. I had mine custom made and went almost to the end but I thought the rounded edge looked better. I definitely wanted wider though. IMO not only does it look better but it makes the cowl type hood more prominent. I flipped and did round in the front but all the way off the back of the hood. The opposite of what 1st Gen did.

BTW: I'm not a fan of the grill in the hood period...especially not with the rally stripes.

yea, I like the rally stripes that go in front of the mail slot. That's about the closet I've seen to the Gen1 stripes. Looks sharp!

Why did GM reverse the stripes on the hood? Liked it better from Gen 1, bleeding to the edge of the front facia and rounding out my the top of the hood

GM didn't do that. I had mine custom made.

You really can't do the rounded edge at the windshield with the hood on the 5th Gen. If you look at the 1st Gen hood it actually stops prior to the windshield. The 1st Gen has a section of metal between the hood and the windshield. That made it so that you could round off the stripes on there (I think that's actually called a cowl). The 5th gen doesn't have that. The hood goes all the way to the windshield. If you were to round off the 5th Gen's stripes in the back then it would look goofy IMO because the rounding would actually be on the hump that is made to look like the 1st Gen's cowl induction hood. The hoods are similar but different enough that it wouldn't work out so well to round the stripes off at the windshield.

Heres mine with full length stripes. A little different than CaverMans, mine are not rounded, they are pointed.
