eLSD calibration changes nothing on street or track. It was designed for AutoX.

I’m fully aware of the calibration... I’m looking for possible street & strip advantages. Did you do this calibration and take it to the track to comment on calibration?

It was put out for the autocross people. Specifically for Cam-C and other higher preparation classes since this is not legal for the 1LE in AS or now BS.

"This eLSD calibration will decouple the differential at a faster rate based on accelerator pedal position and steering wheel angle to enable faster yaw rotation at corner entry, and upon corner exit the eLSD will couple faster than normal rates to enable power to be delivered sooner to both rear wheels."

If you turn the TCS/Stabilitrac completely off while on track (I know some people don't use PTM) the "Autocross Tune" will be active. Yes it was designed for Autocross but it should do the exact same thing on track, they don't market it that way though because their Autocross club guys are the ones that developed it and deep down they want you to use PTM while on track.

Hmm I may need to get this on my 1LE. With the addition of the Procharger now I am having issues that I know are coming from the rear end with the car wanting to walk all over the road as the rear diff locks and unlocks while under WOT. Does the improvement affect all PTM modes or only certain ones?

I wonder if they are going to release a drag calibration for the 1LE like they are doing for the ZL1?

It could be both with a separate drag setting to reduce the bog and making standing burnouts possible.
Wishful thinking as I live 4 miles from a dragstrip.

Hold the Traction control button until it's fully off(two lights on dash) had no problems when I was at the track to spin the rears.

The calibration is designed mostly for autocross situations, yes, but it will come into play in low and medium speed circumstances on a road course. The reason that the calibration doesn't come into play at high speeds on track is to keep the car stable and safe at higher speeds on track. The increased decoupling on deceleration and increased coupling on acceleration is done to allow the car to rotate a bit better and then distribute power to both wheels sooner at low and medium speeds. These two things can make things very tricky at high speeds... The calibration is only available with TC/STAB off (PTM unavailable), as that is, really, the only way the calibration could be released. Having it available with the other modes on would require a lot more investment (validation time and money and certification) on GM's part. With the cal only being available with everything off, GM is able to release the calibration because it separates them from the investment and liability. |
