What's the movie where Jim Carey trashes the car in the handicapped space, I feel the same way when I see a car parked in two spaces up close to the building. Out is the middle of the parking lot is cool with me, that's where I'll be parked,,,, way out from the other cars.. ;-)

I may actually consider getting that. I'd have to look into it though since I feel like a huge magnet on the side of my car could be damaging. And it's not easy to find a price either....
So I may just stick with a camera

Don't be that guy! I have a beautiful ZL1 and I always find a curb spot way out in the lot and despise people who park like that. Your asking for trouble and it's not worth some jerk trying to prove a point and messing with your beautiful ride. The holiday season is coming up and parking will be at a premium.

I always park far out but never straddle lines.... because:
1- if you are parked far out why do you need to straddle lines? 2- straddling lines attracts vandals. and... if we are going someplace parking may be an issue, we take the wife's Mini.

It dismays me that OCD folk think that a painted line in a private parking lot is sacrosanct and inviolate, even in the back 40.
My wife's theory is that aho (Japanese for.....) need a car to park next to because they can't judge and park within painted lines without another car for reference. Given the wife's theory, I wonder if hogging the space to one side or the other rather than overtly and obviously parking over the middle of a painted line will buy some measure of safety; by hogging, it looks like you just can't park. But, by being obvious, you are inviting retribution. Last edited by RiCorvette; 11-12-2013 at 09:38 PM. |

I stopped doing that a long time ago. I now park just like anyone else but always try and find end spots. Found (by observing from afar) that 99.999% of the people take extra care not to hit the door. They admire the car, and are more aware it's there. Sure, seems risky but actually Corvettes are extremely tolerant of door dings, due the the fact they are not metal. Parking diagonally or taking up two spots, not a smart move.

I too park far out and walk no matter which car I'm in. I have never driven my vette and parked where I couldn't watch it. If my wife and I are in the vette and she needs to go into a store or mall, I let her out and go park, still far out, and wait on her. I have seen where BMW's, Camaro's, and Mustangs have parked sideways or took two spots and someone has walked by and drug a key all the way down the side.

Hey my son is big into skateboarding and was the National Champion in wakeboarding when he was 11 years old (then was diagnosed with a rare blood disease- had to stop competing) I just meant the people that stay on the lots and sometimes cause heck.......nothing against skatboarding- just trying to paint a mental image......Ive always been pro "hanging out on car lots for teens" and even started a program where we made parking lot captains to call out the next morning if trash and stuff was left....we convinced business owners to let them hang out........but I do know some people love to key scratch nice cars and think its funny as hell to watch the person return and find it

No worries, We know you didn't mean it. My skateboarders would rather wax it than scratch it. That way they get to ride in it more often.

As long as it out in the back of the parking lot most people don't care. But I always make sure to park at an angle if I take two spot so no one can park right beside like some dueches.
I caught this guy parked at the front of twin peaks at lunch hour while the place was packed!!!! Almost did something. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
