I like the idea, but currently torn on the reduction of inertia on take off. I assume you have it? What are your driving impressions? I think i have another thread asking people about them.

I agree. I'll do the same things with mine. Yeah, those other Katech billet pieces are pretty but pricey, for sure. The TSP version should work just fine, I'd imagine. I'd go that same route, too.

It's still a bit in the future for me, but I'd probably do everything you're doing except I really want a 2650 and port injection on mine. Do I need it? Nope. Do I waaaaant it?

I'll probably start with a 2650 and a JMS on my car next spring. Then the following year do a 103/big gulp/headers/flex sensor/port inj. Then a year later pull it all out and do the cam, heads, etc., and maybe a clutch at that point- either because I need it already or because I will need it after that round of mods.

I would have to pull a lot of stuff off again with this approach, but I enjoy breaking it up over time for the fun of the build and tuning process.

Anyway, keep up the awesomeness! Lovin' the pics of all the fun you're having!

I think the LTW Flywheel is an excellent addition with close to 25lbs of weight savings (where it counts) and the engine revving much faster. I trust Katech as they don't mess around.

Evening Team,
After doing some port matching (blower to heads) I had time to assemble the heads with my TSP dual springs, Ti Retainers and seats. Used plenty of assembly lube and blue locktite. Torqued the heads with replacement GM bolts and gaskets. RTV'd the TSP VVT delete front cover, primed the Katech oil pump and RTV'd the oil pan. Topped it off with the Katech valve covers and pressed on the new ATI damper (9.15% pulley to come later)... A few photos of the progress below. Getting close to dropping this bad boy back on... maybe tomorrow?

Well, the engine wont go in today, but i did have some time to re-assemble my ported blower from Katech and test fit my new billet lid from DSX. The ported snout and 103mm TB fit perfect, but because there is no more o-ring i did ad a pinch of RTV for peace of mind. Cant wait to bolt this puppy on!

I agree... Perhaps Katech should help sponsor this build and send me one with a monster clutch attached

STATUS UPDATE...

The heart transplant is almost done.

After about 2 hours of careful persuasion, my nephew and a friend were able to get her in and bolted up on Thursday night. I was short on free time this weekend, but I did work from 9pm to 1pm last night to install the AC pump, drive belts, radiator fan, fuel system and supercharger.

A few take-aways from the recent progress to share with others.

1. 3 man team makes the job alot easier (more hands and eyes to mitigate pinch points)
2. the front cradle needs to drop around 3-4" to fit. these bolts can be re-used but i did use blue locktite.
3. we also had to jack up the trans until it touched the top of the firewall tunnel.
4. if i did it again, i would have installed the valve covers, water-pump and pulleys after the motor was in.
5. had to rotate the engine slightly to get the clutch splines and output shaft to mesh.
6. After that little dance the rest went smooth... i LOVE my BMR motor mounts.!
7. Get a hand setting in the SC. I did it myself but dont recommend.

Im outta town most of this week, but wil jump back on the project by Friday night, and hope to be starting her up by Sunday!
